best, quick, natural diuretic???

besides the one flippant comment, y'all are forgetting: alcohol.

Do several shots and see how you look the next morning--not holding much water I guarantee you.

Also avoid the salt.

this couldn't be more inaccurate.

alcohol will actually cause your body to retain water, and besides that fact, it is just empty calories and will cause weight gain over time, in addition to the temp gain that results from water weight.

Ok, show me the study that shows that alcohol make you retain water. It is widely known that alcohol is a diuretic, meaning that the fluid you piss out is greater than the fluid you take in.

Tell me how on Earth alcohol can make you RETAIN water.

Also obviously this is a short-term solution. The poster asked for a "quick" solution. I did not advocate doing this more than once at a time.

Actually he is quite correct in that alcohol inhibits anti-diuretic hormone.

OK, if alcohol INHIBITS an anti-diruertic hormone, that means you have LESS of it, correct?

If you have LESS than normal of a natural anti-diruretic, you will ENHANCE diuresis.

Thus EtOH rids you of water.

Thank you, I'm here all week.

Smart guy - I was agreeing with you. Notice my quote says he and was after the chick (Jenny) told you that you were incorrect. I am quite aware of what I am posting about.

I thought about that after I posted. I now realize that you were indeed agreeing with me. (I also didn't realize je.knee is a female).

Thanks

Alcohol also can impair vision, impair sexual function, slow circulation, cause malnutrition, cause water retention (resulting in weight gain and bloating), lead to pancreatitis and skin disorders (such as middle-age acne), dilate blood vessels near the skin causing "brandy nose," weaken the bones and muscles, and decrease immunity.

i wasn't trying to start something. i'm sorry, it wasn't my objective to get everyone all defensive. i am new here, i don't want any enemies :( i was just trying to state the facts. a lot of ignorance comes from misinformation. and just because "so and so" says so, and then a bunch of people start to believe that and thus spread that info, does not make it accurate.

They could be talking about the long term...just like if you do anything for a long time your body overcompensates the other way.

Meaning, if you introduce a lot of this diuretic chemical into your body over a long period of time, your body will produce more of this anti diuretic homone, so that whenever you are not drinking you will retain more water.

Also that is a pretty rabidly anit-alcohol web page, they could be drumming up just about anything to convince you not to drink.

No flame intended, just trying to get the facts straight.

Welcome to the board and understand that discussions like this is exactly why this board is here, so we can argue and hash things out and come to the right conclusion.
