Sorry, should have been more specific - it also needs to be low/no carbs (diabetic). I spike my BG up to about 150 starting about 1 hour before workout - and high novolog afterward. I don't want to have to mess with insulin before or during training, and if I got above 175-180, my gym performance suffers.
That might burn his cals out to fast though....maybe not... I'm diabetic and I have to get really high before I use some Pre-workouts cause they really zap the Glucose levels..

Stimulants seems to be fine with me. Sometimes I get a little liver dump with caffeine, so it helps keep my BG up during the workout. If I got too long, like past 1.5 hours, my BG does drop and when I start going below 120 I can tell - I just don't have the same strength. I carry a roll of smarties and pop them sometimes while I am working out - very fast to get to my blood stream. The guys in the gym call the smarties my "steroids", lol.
I just picked up some "Blast" from Nimbus Nutrition, was on clearance. Contains no AKG, AAKG, etc. Will try it out.
