but the only reason that satch isnt as well known as hendrix or paige is because times have changed.

when satch broke out bigtime (in the early 90's) rock was dying out! how the fuck is he supposed to get exposure when nobody was listening to rock????

also, keep in mind that satch is all instrumental!!!

instrementalists cannot possibly get the exposure like singing bands.

hendrix - a true god.. amazing feel, technically average.

paige - a sloppy live player with amazing studio skills. lots of feel, lots of passion, technically average.

jeff beck - a near perfect guitarist. more feel than any other player i've heard, technically superb, awesome recroding skills.

van halen - clean as they come. technically in the top 5 guitarist alive with vai, satch, johnson, malmsteen.

vai- the most technically proficient player alive! too bad he's into crazy shit.

johnson - technically in the top 5, very clean. amazing tones. too bad he comes out with a cd only every 4 years.

malmsteen - shredding machine! technically in top 5 although some will argue he's all speed. when in mood for shredding except no substitude!

satriani - amazing feel, the king of tone, technically only second to vai, versatile, consistenly making new material, recording genius, a true god.


now sure there are other great guitarist out there and perhaps the title of this thread should have been changed to best ROCK guitarist of all time.
