best AS after inflamed disk?

Anyone one in the medical field have any advice on the best AS to use when recovering from an inflamed disk in my lower back? I first injured it about a year ago (lifting wrong - I was new to lifting then!!) Anyway - past mistakes are water under the bridge and learning experiences. Now I have been "recovering" for about a year. Off and on pain etc etc. Last week I began to deadlift heavy - and I mildly (not nearly as bad as last year) inflamed the disk again. I want to get cured ASAP, so any advice on excersizes to do/procedures to lookinto/ AS to use to speed recovery would be MUCH appreciated. Thank all.

I simply dont understand why people look to AS to heal injuries. FOr the most part AAS will cause muscle strength to rise much fater than tendon/legament strength and this extra strength puts a lot of additional strain on cartiledge, tendons and legamints. If anything you risk a more serious injury. If your looking to speed up recovery, look into prolotherapy. Then, ONCE HEALED, go for the AAS.

The issue for me was that I am under the impression that AS were initially created to speed battle field recovery during WWII. Is this not the case, or do AS not assist in recovery from injury? I was under the impression that used correctly, AS can assist in many type of injuries and can speed many types of tissue regeneration??? Am I missinformed?

BTW Zyg - thanks for the Prolotherapy keyword - looks like INTERESTING procedures. I live in NJ - you wouldn't happen to know a prolo doc here would you?

In many cases it can speed recovery, but in the case of tendons, ligaments, cartiledge, there is so little blood flow to those areas that healing can be a very long process AAS or not. Prolotherapy (check out prolotherapy.com I think they have a list of docs) targets the damaged tissue to help speed the bodies own recovery.

I just had my first treatment last week, still a bit sore, about 10 injections in the elbow and 20 in the shoulder. I prolly wont start noticing results until after next treatment, but plan on keeping every one informed.

WOW thanks a TON Zyg!! I'm lookin into it now. PLEASE post to the board... this may be the answer I really need... none of the usual doctor BS about my disks :)!! YOU RULE
