Best age to begin working out

Start young.

Numerous studies from Europe show that weightlifing (read that as: olympic lifts) are beneficial and have a more practical carry over to sports and health.

That being said - I have witnessed one ex-Olympian teaching his daughters how to do cleans. And I believe the girls were 8 & 12. Weights the older daughter was using was around 80# (practically her bodyweight).

1) You can start cardio at a pretty young age - and that's a good thing to do.
2) I wouldn't start a girl lifting too early or too heavy. In all honesty, she's not old enough to make the decision that she doesn't want to look like a woman and you shouldn't make it for her. Just stick to body weight exercises, cardio, and some lighter weights.
3) WB - You'd be a handsome man if your face didn't look like the interior wall of chop shop. You going to be cutting anytime soon?

:FRlol: :FRlol: ....Ahhhh What couldve been! Yes Im planning on cutting very soon. I think I might do that tonight as well. :chainsaw: If leaning out is what you mean, then that could be a while!! haha I may get leaner from changes in diet though, since my diet can change alot due to budget and other conditions. I plan to bulk for a while longer though. Still have alot of goals that are getting close. 19" arms and 405 on the bench to name a few. I dont think itll be a problem to cut down once I have some decent size. 20" arms should be decent. ThanX again brother!!

i started in 4th grade with pushups, pullups, lunges and sprints. then in 6th grade i got a pair of 10 pound db's and started adding more exercises each month with the help of muscles books.

It's ok to start young, but I don't think you should start doing heavy low-rep sets until well into your teens.

I always did every sport i could but did not lift much seriously until i was 17. Over the summer of lifting and bucking hay bales for a farmer, i turned into a man babay.

i think 16 would be ideal.

Id say weights at the start of highschool, so around 15-16. I would recommend sports as soon as they are old enough to play. Definentlly will give them an advantage over the people who say start at 10 years old. I started playing organized teeball when i was like 4-5, and football at age 12. It definently gave me an advantage over others having started playing at such a young age. Also will help develope life long friendships. I still have really good friends that i started playing ball with when i was like 10 years old. ;)

I started around junior high....sooo around 12-13. I'm 6'3 so I don't think it stunted my growth any :D but who knows maybe I was supposed to be 6'5

I also didn't really have a clue what I was doing (ie no squats or deads)
