bench press question

am currently doing incline, decline and flat bench presses in my work out.........

is this too many exercises hitting the same area?

should i drop one of these?

how many sets of each ? my chest workout has 4 or 5 sets of heavy incline and thats it for benching, some on here, those with DC will tell you much less is needed. TOo much heavy benching on one day could definatly leave you overtrained

Interesting...

I have been doing normal benches since forever, and my pecs, they seem to keep growing, I like inclines but never really see anything in terms of results in the upper area of the chest, maybe it's the angle of attack for my chest sections & connections...heh but!

I just started doing "Incline dumbbell hammer flyes" and I love the growth they can concur, one hell of a stretch and they tear the muscle very very well (very sore next day and or two). I only use 30 lbs for each hand, I recommend trying these for 3-4 weeks, your upper chest will flare up very well.

I do 12 sets of chest.

Warmup

3 sets of Flat Bench w/dbells or bbells
3 sets Incline w/dbells or bbells
3 sets of Flies w/dbells
3 sets of Decline H.S.

your incline bench may be too high even at 45%(to much front delt).

i know many people including myself get far better results from a 30% incline.

I think that it all depends on how you feel about them. What kind of development are you getting from them and how they work for you....that is what is important...

Im personally not a big fan of delines...
But I absolutely love inclines... I've been doing inclines at a 45 degree angle for about 3-4 months now and wholy crap has my entire chest ever developed. My pecs were lacking terribly before I started focusing on incline...

I think chest dips are underrated as one of the best all-time chest exercises. Just lean forward a bit, flare your elbows out instead of tucking them in, and you have a kick-ass replacement for decline stuff.

That being said, I don't think you need to do all three. Do incline and decline (or preferably incline and chest dips).

I'd say if it's working for you, then stick with it....
Personally i couldn't do that many pressing movements wihtout burning out....But that's ME...

i tried something new this week and absolutely loved it... decline flies with the cable machine... i felt it like i haven't felt it in my chest in a long time.
