bench press 9/11/03

hey guys, lowered weights,. shortened rest times today

225 for 5x5
30 sec rest, 2 close grip, 2 mod grip, 1 wider grip
275 x1, flew to lockout

3 board press
big pr day
225x3
275x3
315x3(first 3 sets close grip) pr btw
335x2 mod grip big PR felt slight pull in right pec, called it a day on these

3 sets 10 supported t bar rows

45,95,135 all for 5 on push jerk for form
then grip, bicep, face pulls and abs:)

very good workout, gonna ice this pec and heal up

also 5 30 sec intervals on step machine, gotta get my conditioning back

thanx, my goal is strongman, but i have been getting better at strongman and overhead and my bench has went up alot lately:) i was doing 2 overhead days a week, i switched one to bench and the overhead has went up even more:)
 
nice workout man...very solid...before were your me days catered to the push press more than board presses? tryin to figure out what i can do to raise my ohp.

Ready for a break after Nationals to let all of those small injuries heal? :)

yeah i figured it was something that crazy bfold came up with.......lol. i just remember hearing something about him doing 5x5 instead of speed bench, just wanted to see how it was working out.

either that or it was a metal militia hybrid.

i had not done bench in over a year, i decided to do it so my body would get used to heavier weights since balance is not a big issue on viking press. i started using a 5x5 something like clint has been doing instead of speed bench. i will start doing speed bench, but have been making great gains and don't want a drastic change until after nationals. does that answer the question???
 
nice man...i really like the idea of ohp me day and speed bench day w/5x5 or something similar. maybe if i start something similar it will help my weak ass overhead.lol

Yes, I am...and my overhead is increasing again also. The 5x5 didn't turn out to be too joint friendly to me...
