ok.. i was just reading the bench sticky over at powerlifting.. and they say that the elbows should be 45 degrees to ur body? i thought all a long it should be 90.. like when u look from the front ur body should be a T instead of an up arrow.. get what i'm trying to say?

I get what you are trying to say, that is proper form. You should keep the elbows tucked in like the sticky mentions and the bar should be brought down to the lower chest/upper ab area.It will feel strange the first few times but as time goes by you will be able to lift more using that form.

Tucking the arms in will help you to recruit your lats better which will soon enough guarantee that any weight you have a hope of benching will get off your chest.

Learning to rotate your chest up to form the arch; tucking the arms in and learning the best place to lower the bar along with good use of the legs will help a lot with your bench.

It is amazing the difference it makes in your bench. Even incorporating just some the techniques in that sticky will help your bench tons.

hep to take the stress off the chest muscles, and allow you to recruit more of the tri's into the lift, as they do most of the pressing work in the bench./
