is this the death of the Bench America? I just cant see the worlds top benchers coming in under these conditions when there is the Arnold just 4 short months before. I think the Arnold bench off remains the premiere contest out there

What made them do that?

They will lose a lot of the star power they had this year. Sounds like some babies did a little crying to mommy.

Drug free or not I want to see some of the same faces there competeing next year.

its not drug free.
its just tested.
You are only required to have been clean for the past 4 months, which means many lifters will still be reaping the benefits of juice, since their steroid enhanced gains won't just disappear that fast.

Actually it is a polygraph, so you tell me.

The theory on the single ply is so the GP will respect it more cuz it won't be all about the shirts?!?

Now the people are supposed to pay $20 a head to go see guys they can see in any decent gym in this country!

We as a company will support it as some of our lifters will be going, but my personal opinion is that people want tp see the freaks in any sport.

The general public for the most part thinks using a shirt is cheating so it doesn't matter if they use a poly or a demin. They'll bitch about it anything.

Exactly, It will make no differance what kind of shirt they wear...the simple fact that they are even wearing a shirt will change no ones oppinion.

This may very well kill Bench America....The big names will still train for the Arnold, and it will be a bunch of nobodies in The B.A.

How sad.........

same here. If I want to see something UN-FREAKISH I'll stay in the local gym, but when I want to see super power freaks I go to the arnold or bench america. as far as the general publics perception, what percent of this demographic will actually attend or tune into Bench America? zilcho.

I heard the drug test was meant to be used as a sales tool for landing big potential sponsors like coke but a lie detector just seems like a weird choice

Out of the few choices that they have a lie detector is their best bet if all they want is the appearance of drug testing. Passing or failing is greatly dependent on who is doing the testing with a lie detector. On the other hand a urine test while also being more expensive, is also not subject to interpretation. It's pass or fail, no wiggle room.

But this is not 'lifetime drug free'. this is 4 months worth- you go off juice for 12 or 16 weeks and you aren't going to lose strength. so, any LIFETIME drug free lifters are going to be a quite a disadvantage anyway. lie detector or urine test- doesn't matter. most of the guys there will be juiced up, just probably not recently.
