Yes.. I would say its from fat reduction. My last cutting.. when my abs came In I noticed a big difference... right now im mushy.. blech.. but when I was leaner it was a noticable difference.

I'm the same way.

I do have a new belly button though ;) - hernia surgery and some other weirdness that needed to be fixed.

I have to tell you, since this thread has been started, I think about belly buttons all the time now... EF has taken over my daily thoughts yet again!

totally right on the first count, and indirectly on the second one.

If your skin has enough elasticity left to tighten up completely after losing tummy fat (especially in combo with tighter abs) then you'll see the wider opening. But if you're older, like my mom, after losing fat the skin around the navel may just kind of sag a little over the opening and actually make it look a bit smaller.

Velvett.. will this hernia surgery affect your ab training? My mom had surgery two years ago and the doc told her not to train abs...

Do you normally train abs with weights?

It the past, no.

I just had the surgery in November - I haven't done any abs yet, just did legs last week for the first time. Truth be known I'm kinda scared - it feels kinda weird sometimes and I can feel the cone at the base of my belly button.

Didn't I tell you about the tube from my belly button to my stomach that had to be removed and closed up? The hernia was just below the belly button and from what he said that "easy part" :worried:

Yep, I'm just a little less of a freak than I was two months ago.

HOOORAH!

Just one hernia? How long after you realized you had one did you have the surgery?

I had a scare a few times, and still don't know, what it is.. I get a huge knot in one particular place.. cramp and balls up something fierce.

big sister, that sounds like a partially torn abdominal. You really need to have a physician look at that.

Dammit...

Not something else Broke :worried:

What gets me is it never EVER acts up when Im training .. And i've used heavy weights for abs while training for PL'ing.

It normally happens in the tub.. sitting up or something simple like that.

those are times when the ab wall isnt constantly being "flexed" or heldin...when it sags is when the pain will typically start

the tear was most likely caused by training though. Seriously, you should go have a doc look at it, preferably a sports medicine specialist. At this point it could possibly heal on it's own, but left unchecked you're definitely looking at surgery to reattach it.
