Do you believe in God? Just from my experience on this board, my guess is that the nonbelievers will outnumber the believers 3 to 1.

I do. I just think that it is such an esoteric experiance that no two can be alike. Everyone has an image they worship whether they know it or not.

The way I feel this morning, I hope God thinks I believe in him. Believing is easy...I struggle with the worship part unfortunately.

I believe that God exists and that in his own way lets us know to worship him in our hearts. What I mean is When people believe "they are" the embodiment of religion God punches them in the face and makes them do stupid shit. i.e. Jimmy Swaggert, Falwell, Jim Baker, just to name a few. Stigmata is a good movie, and a slight idea of what I see religion, faith and God in my heart and mind.

Yep, pride comes before the fall. Religion makes certain people very arrogant. They think they are the chosen one.

not only do i believe but i follow. i agree about the arrogant part, i've seen it too many times. the holy than thou attitude. as the bible says: judge not lest ye be judged not.

words of wisdom i say. my belief is that the religion is not the problem, it's certain people that portray it, look at the terrorist right now, they are making the nation of islam look bad. there are millions who are good law abiding peacefull muslims in the world who are being mocked for the actions of a few. this is all to familiar. misrepresentation of the religion is a big problem in the world today and what's worse is the media makes it public and people start thinking religion is bad. sorry for going off topic a bit, but i had to add that in there. :)

I will say that I do believe in a creator, I hope there is one because that way I know a bunch of Fanatic muslims will be in hell soon.

Death to OBL and his henchmen in ALL Arab lands.

Wow Cliff. Those are some incredibly harsh words for your creator, especially one that you believe in. How one could come to that conclusion, I can not fathom.
If things in your life just don't seem to go right, whether it be finances, love, dreams, health, every minor little detail in your life, from your day to day activity, there may be more to it than you could imagine. If your life sucks, which is the only reason I could fathom be the case of hating your creator, it's the day to day decisions that you have made in your life that has placed you there. And, rather than searching for a better avenue, you choose to insult your creator, which a believer would certainly understand that this would effect your karma, therefore effecting everything you ever do or have done in life.
Personally, I also believe in a creator. Whether you choose to call him God, Buddha, Allah, doesn't really matter. The choices you make is what does matter, and is what creates karma.
"Tomorrow is a result of today, you are the result of yesterday."
May I ask why you made the statement you did? By the way, I'm not a fanatic, nor trying to flame you.

GOD IS ABOUT AS REAL AS EMMIT BROWNS TIME MACHINE.

IT SIMPLY DOESNT EXSIST.

Is anyone else as surprised as I am by the results of this poll?

I run into 10 times more anti-God/anti-Chrisitanity people on this board than I do faithful people. This type of response both astounds and pleasantly surprises me.

I believe in God

The question is what type of God do you believe in......every nationality and race has there gods...so everyone worships a higher being...i believe in the God of Creation (you know the one talked about in the Bible)....even atheists believe in a higher power.....they just dont give it a specific form or name

I definitaley believe in GOD, and I thank Him for all I have everyday. Especially in these times of tragedy, I feel closer to all of humanity.

For those who dont believe, or appreciate God, thas ok, but why are u eating His food, breathing His air, living on His earth etc...

u get the point? Well atleast that's how people that believe in God do. It's not just blind faith, simple evolution or big bang can't explain the complexities of our bodies and the Earth.

It's MY food, MY air, and damn it part of this Earth is MINE.

plifter, u know easily God can take all of Your stuff away? In a second. Be humble, and fear Him.

God must be a dick if he's going to take my air away from me just because I don't worship him.

I believe when there is a hardship, instead of seeing it as a hardship, see it as God testing your faith. If He takes your air away from u and u are patient, and beleive in Him, then surely u will be rewarded. Atleast this is how I beleive it.

We have very different beliefs. I believe if god takes my air away from me that I will suffocate and die. Then over a period of time I will decompose until there's nothing left but a few carbon atoms.

if you are referring to me...

So far by the poll your guess is wrong.

Even if you get a billion votes for yes, i will not change my mind.
Furthermore, even if i was alone to say no: this does not mean that i am wrong (i hate being wrong) since there is NO proof what so ever.

Sorry.

I believe in a creator------But if God as most put it does exist, I find it hard to believe that he would need his ass kissed like these worshippers do. My creator knows that I know he existed and does not need me to get on my knees and thank him. I know that if heaven and hell exist----All my friends will be in hell and I may as well join them----Because I would rather be there then with these fucking bible bangers.

All my friends will be in hell and I may as well join them----Because I would rather be there then with these fucking bible bangers.

True, I'm not the most righteous of people, but do you have any sort of concept what hell is like, Wombat? See I think this happens all too often. People joke about hell like it's the lesser of two eternal hotels or something. "The one without the bay view" Acting as if going there is no big deal. It is a big deal and one day you'll realize. I just hope you all realize and set yourselves right with God before you pass.

Hell is:

ETERNAL PAIN AND SUFFERING - Meaning that there is no break from it, no end to look forward to... and even if all your friends are there... I doubt you'll even get to see them let alone talk to them.

TORTURE, IN EVERY SENSE OF THE WORD - There is NO joy down there. There is NO peace. Only endless pain and unrest.

Also:

- I hear that the souls bannished to Hell can see the souls in Heaven and watch them as they go about their care-free afterlives.
- I also hear that if you die with a problem like alcoholism, or heroin, or coke or whatever... that you can never escape that. It stays with you throughout eternity.

Food for thought.

Well we see love as the thing that heaven would be------but if that is all that there is, love would become the evil------we are all searching for some kind of love in this world because there is not a lot of it ---What I mean is one is not always thinking of love --Hugs and kisses and shit like that because they have other feelings------Most people feel the other feeling more then love so we think that heaven must be all about love and hugs and all that shit-----But if this world was all about love, that would be its own torcher------Constant love---never stopping would be torcher----Are minds are just not set up to understand that-----It makes no sense that one would be given one shot at "doing the right thing"----- There are priests in the world that know more about god or the bible then most but mess with young boys-------we have nuns that teach in schools and use items to hit kids with--------Life is not black and white ---heaven or hell---

anyone else find this odd?

Seems a bit strange to me that a post that started off as a discussion about god turned into a discussion about constant sex...maybe its just me....not that i mind talking about sex or anything..just seems kinda off the topic :P

You're damn stupid. Just shut the fuck up instead og looking so ridiculous.

I believe in God.

Maybe not exactly how he is depicted in the bible.. but how I envision him.

I'm not talking sex-----Constant anything would be torcher-----It doesn't matter how good it feels-----If it wasn't torcher then it would be nothing----Its like people that are depressed and take anti-depressants-----They don't get happy or sad(well some) just trying to make a point-----For god to make heaven all about love only---He would have to keep other feelings in your thoughts so one would understand what the feeling of love is----And if he keeps the other feelings in your head but only allowed you to have love. Then would that be any better then someone that only sees hate-----

I believe. I didn't always... I used to second guess. I would say there was no proof. Sometimes it takes things getting to their absolute worst before one will even open their eyes to this sort of thing. This was the case for me. I have spent six years alone, wallowing in my own self pity and misery. Ay, the drama, right? Until I found God. I thank that girl who told me it was over in front of the entire church.

You opened my eyes, Megan. Because when gazing through my tears, Jah was there. And now I'm never looking back. He's the one I know that will never leave.

Am I a bible thumper? I won't press my religion on anyone, but I'll be the first to say Hell yes I am, and proud of it!

If someone in hell can look up to the heavens and see what is going on then surly the people in the heavens could look down to hell and see whats going on there and sooner or later get sick and tired of seeing MOST people to ever walk the earth burn---One would think that as heaven grow that they would try to overturn Gods way of thinking of letting all of these people burn---It just can't be that black and white----God could not be that stuck on himself----Its a very selfish way of thinking that does not make any sense for someone such as god that has so much love to give-----

And if someone that is in hell can look up to the heavens and see all the love that is going on up there then he must possess love in his head to understand what is going on above him. And if thats the case then how ever he/she is being torchered would not work because all he has to do is look up and see how good people are feeling. And that may make he/she feel good. Regardless of the way he is being torchered. There are a lot of people that walk this earth that are completely misrable but when they look at someone that is happy, it can bring a small amount of happiness to them.

What PISSES me off!!!!! About Islam and Christianity is there enternal reward trash. Is there a heaven is there a hell, is there a point? That's not what its all about IMO.

These teaching are instantly gratifying and rewarding, and will keep a man from harms way and content and humble.

However I lack the inititive to follow either, but I understand the basic fundamentals.

Come on folks!!! GOD.. Do you believe in the Easter bunny, Santa,etc..... You may as well if you belive in God.

I believe in a supreme being.

It's part of me, not in a book, or a building, but part of me.
It's who I am.
How I treat others.
How I treat myself.

Basically it governs how I live my life.:)

I believe in Mother Nature. All She knows are the Laws of Nature. These Laws cannot be changed, however, they can be circumvented with a little ingenuity and effort.

A strong Christian is never "content". There is always room for improvement in our relationship with God.

This one isn't directed at you, minion, but rather for the people who scream "Bible thumper!" and degrade the intellect of people who are actively involved with their religion. There is no proof to those who have never opened their eyes. I am neither here nor there on your decision NOT to believe, and you should be likewise and respect anyone's difference of view. It is your choice, and yours alone... just as it is my choice to walk with Jah.

Religion is not a crutch. Religion is a ladder. Religion has given me the confidence and sense of self worth to go from average, to far ... FAR beyond average, in my physical, emotional, and spiritual aspect.

And you should not put something down just because you don't understand it. i'm sorry you don't understand religion, i guess i am lucky because i do.

Rev, Its time you really grasp the world around you. Its nice to live in a "HAPPY PLACE" . A perSON of logic does not follow the sheep.
Religion was/is used to control people. There was a time back when the masses needed to be controled. Thus Religion..
You are correct.(KINDA) We wont see in the end because we will be DEAD...

Same here, with some ways I have been publically humiliated in church...:(. So I can relate...

I bet you had to say Romans 8:28 to yourself a lot about that. (No offense...but what else can one say when that happens in church which is supposed to be 'the safest place on earth' according to Larry Crabb (one of my favorite authors :)))

When they teach Christians how to be Christians, they often seem to forget to teach them how to be sensitive to the feelings of others...:(

It's ridiculous isn't it, because it's easy to find a Christian who is actively engaging in any 'sin' that they don't want to give up...

So I don't know where the idea comes from that to be a Christian you have to give up something you love...

Not from Christians...

poon,

It's unfortunate in my eyes you feel that way. As I have said numerous times, you are entitled to your belief, as I am mine.

Jesus was a REAL person. Jesus was not some fictional being made up to control the masses, as you stated it. It would take numerous studies and resources that I do not have access to in order to prove that, however that deals both ways on this arguement.

I live my life very full. Being a good Christian does not mean being "boring". However one does not need sin in order to accomplish this. There are things in life far better than any posession, any drug, any drink... and sexual encounter. Religion is not a crutch, nor is it a cage. I have never stood so proud and so strong until I found Jah.

I wish you would respect that.

Helen,

You're so right. But I can forgive her, despite the amount of grief it caused me. It's hard to fall in love with somebody, and then have them so easily abandon you. The feeling of betrayal sometimes is almost unbearable, but you learn to grasp at your strength and move on... though I haven't quite completely recovered from it.

I'd even go so far as to thank her, like I said before. She was partially responsible for making me the man I am today.

From the other thread.

real quick, all my life my mom made me go to church every sunday. I was an altar boy. all i did is fuck around with the other kids. moms had me go all the time and instill her values in me. i didn't kow God then.

After we moved, i got older and wasnt' forced to go to church. THAT is when i found God. couldn't tell yuou an exact time or place but i knew i had faith. After some of the shit that i've been through and experienced i have ultimate faith in God. I'm not afraid to die cuz i KNOW i'll be in a better place. Like i said, i've seen Him, and heard Him. you all can rip on me all you want, it doesn't matter.

YOU"LL ALL GO TO HELL!!!!!!!

J/K hahaha

Seriously, don't let others preach their bullshit if you don't want to hear it, but don't ignore something you've yet to try.

peace aand testicle grease.

again

I just know it's like feeling love, you just know she's the one. I've doubled guessed myself many a times, and when i start doubting, BOOM it's right back there in my face. Sometimes i wont' even know until after it happened, sometimes i'll know before. but i've been through a lot of shit, and even though half the time i didn't get what i asked for, i knew He was there. no question bout it

I think that people choose not to believe in god as an excuse to live a life of sin.

True true true... People disregard God and all things Christian, because it would inconvenience their current way of life. Instead, they are content to live a life of filth, greed, and ultimately... self destruction. I am in no way trying to press religion upon anyone here. That's your choice, and your's alone. I cannot solve your problems, only you can.

If you learn of religion and choose not to accept/follow it, then that is your choice, and your price to pay.

Oh, and Womat - First off, I highly doubt the souls in Heaven would be able to see the souls in Hell... suffering as they do. God would just not subject His followers to that. And there would be no attempt to overturn Him or His powers. Ya see... somebody's already tried that... Lucifer. And look where he's been for the last Milennium!

What kind of proof do you need?

P.S. That's six words, not one.

anyone know how the dead sea was came to be? if you believe in the bible and/or have read it, you will see that the valley in which sodom and gamorah(sp on both) were it was a valley of salt(rich salt dpostis) when the two cities were destroyed there was a 50 mile crater left there. after time it was filled with water from underground streams and rain. i believe that, but not everyone has to. it's freedom of choice, free will. i for one choose to believe as it i have been taught but i also think for myself and therefore i am. no man shall dictate to me what i am or am not to believe, that is reserved(by my choice) for God and him only. but he has given me free will and i do think and choose for myself.

Rev, I find it odd that just because one fails to believe in the Bible that they are living a life of sin?
The Bible is the greatest work of fiction ever.
It is properly said that the Devil can "quote Scriputure to his purpose". The Bible is full of so many stories of contradictory moral purpose that every generation can find scriptural justifaction for nearly any action it proposes--from incest, slaverly and mass murder to the most refined love, courage.

Darwin,, good ole Darwin, he was about to become the minister of the church of England when the opportunity to sail on the H.M.S beagle came. He took the trip and came back with SENSE,LOGIC. Of course he was then EVIL...

Poon respects everyones OPINION, but Please dont say what you believe is fact. Its not and there is no proof. I have PROOF.
XOXO

If I originally came off as saying one could not lead a good life without believing in the bible, it was unintentional. I did not mean to insinuate that.

Food for thought. Religious and non alike:

Gen. 3:1-6. Satan began his attack upon them by questioning God's Words. Did God REALLY say, "You must not eat from any tree in the garden?"

First of all, He started out by questioning God. And isn't that the way he does with you?

Did God REALLY say that He would meet all of your needs?
Did God REALLY say that you can't have ANY sex if you're not married?
Did God REALLY say that divorce for any reason but adultery is sin?
Did God REALLY say that He'd send people to HELL for committing even minor sins like yours? Why, YOUR sins are just little white lies and innocent mistakes!

Religious people: Have you ever heard that voice?

Second of all, he twisted what God had to say. "You must not eat from ANY tree in the garden?" And he'll twist God's Word in your life, if you let him.

NOBODY loves to quote Scripture like the devil. You're right, poon. But he always quotes it wrong, or out of context, to deceive and to confuse.

When a so-called Christian blows you out of the water and leaves you bleeding on the beach with harsh, condemning words, and backs it all up with a verse of Scripture, that's the devil quoting the Bible.

When a crook on a paid advertisement tells you that the Bible says that the LACK of money is the root of all evil, that is the devil quoting Scripture. He's twisted it from the LOVE of money, to the LACK of money.

When a cheap actor in a sleazy movie says, "Do unto others before they do unto you," and blows a bullet through someone's brain while you are still laughing, that is the devil quoting Scripture.

Reiterated. The devil loves to quote God. He just quotes him wrong.

A great deal of a pastor's work during the week involves picking up the wreckage of lives that listened to the devil for a few moments too long. Because he sounds so good.

You present Darwin's view, I present the Christian's view. Both are opinions, and can never be really proven as FACTUAL. However, the power to decide which will be accepted lies in the heart of the acceptor.

Now your argument is incongruent.

What PROOF did Charles Darwin have to support his theories? NONE. All he had was the end product, the animals that were living when he was doing his research. By using logic, he INFERRED all of his theories. He took the end product and worked backwards, but he never had PROOF.

I'm not saying that he was wrong, all I'm saying is that PROOF is not always there. Unless Darwin saw a fish crawl out of the water and become a land-dwelling creature, he has no PROOF.

Christian's have never seen God, so they have no proof.
But guess what, Darwin never saw a dinosaur, what proof does he have?

Rev,Bigguns,
In regard to Darwin, there is proof. You dont need to see the fish crawl from the water to comprehend the how?
YOu do have proof that dions did exist. Bones!!!
What proof is there of God?? Books? There is no evidence what so ever. Only Hope.
Why is it that 99.9% od Scientests do not believe in god? Are they "mislead"?Why is that we need proof is everything else. But when is comes to Religion, YA JUST GOTTA BELIEVE.?
I would venture out there and say that as a whole I am more moral and wholsome then say 75% of the folks in Church every Sunday. I have never been to a Church in my life.

Matter of fact we have more proof in the existance of U.F.O's then that of a "Supreme" being!

This is a topic which one side will never see the other.
Its cool, at least we can type about this in a respective way. :)

For people who believe in God and follow a certain way of life, think that there is going to be a payoff in the end. That is why they lead the life that they lead.

I have more respect for someone who is a good person, loves others, doesn't do anything to hurt others. Doesn't believe that there is a payoff in the end. So he/she is doing this just because they are a great person. They are not expecting anything in return as are all the people that worship someone.

J(a/e)hovah is God.

Jehovah - the personal name of the only true God. His own self-designation. Jehovah is the Creator and, rightfully, the Sovereign Ruler of the universe. "Jehovah" is translated from the Hebrew Tetragrammaton.

In all religions with reference to him, Jah is one and the same as Jehovah.

i do not understand when people say they don't believe in God because they believe in evolution, i personally believe in both. Also i respect all of you for having a decision if it is well thought out, yet some poeple state they believe in God because they do. Or well i wasn't raised believing in god so i don't. - there must be more than that.

sex kitten candy- I did not mean to insult you, i just wanted you to clarify your thoughts. what you stated was very vague. I beleive you have a right to chose who and what you believe in and if you decided to pick neither, that is okay just have a reason. i hate it when people base their beliefs on what others beliefs are.

As I said, I can relate. :(

I'm glad you can forgive her and can see good that has come out of a difficult experience.

I still don't get her abandoning you in front of the whole church part but...you said it so I am not questioning it.

love in YHWH
Helen

Helen... I will never know either. But I don't need to. My closure is in my own inner peace. I've managed to regain that despite.

I can only keep walking. :)

I believe in a creator------I don't think that we are hear because God all mighty put us here. We here on earth fooling around with cloning and space travel. So if one day we get to mars and put a livable atmosphere on there with only cloned people that we made that are desease free and are emortel. Does that mean that god put them there. I think we are here earth because of what people or beings from a diff-planet made to make us come forth. And they were probably us from the future. But something must have created space. But I do not think that there is this being somewhere sitting on a throne wanting to be worshipped. Imagine at the end of everything there is this thing that is so stuck on him/her/whatself that it must be worshipped. That type of GOD must be very insecure. Imagine a person who worships him but sins like a motherfucker this guy up there will forgive his sins and take him with arms wide open....Another guy lives his life not worshipping because he believes in proof ----This guy has never sinned in his life and just loves life and humans about. When his time comes he will get thrown to hell because he didn't kiss his ass----There is no possible way that something like that could exist and if it does I would gladly go to hell if some fucking god will take people that totally shit on others but would not take a guy who loved others with all his might! If that is what god is, he can go fuck himself!

wombat

you've totally interpreted God in an unjust way. I believe everyone who just tries to be a good person will reach heaven

So what is your religion? Jehovah's Witness?

Revenant - you are very wise and have ery good views on this subject. just thought i'd letcha know.

Here's my belief (and it's a good one!):

There is no god. Man created religion during a time when there were no authority figures to govern society. Religion was implemented to prevent chaos. Thus, the fear of God controlled the population and so religion was a good thing. More and more religions popped up to govern more and more societies that developed. Each new religion was skulpted to the creators' ideals and the societies needs.

Now, we have a formal government and religion is just a means to explain what is too scary for some people to grasp.

When you die, your existence ends-just like before you were born. People want to believe that as long as they are morally good, that they will go to a utopian community of eternal bliss and the evil people (life's villains), will go to the exact opposite--a place of pure agony and torture for all eternity.

Religion was a good thing but now, it's gone too far. Religion is the cause for war and hatred just as much as random acts of sin because there are so many different religious views (the flaws of a man-made religion). Why do people need some dated and archaic textbook to govern their lives? People should search their heart and conscience to do what is right.

FreakMonster, Jehovah is God in Christianity as well. Jehovah's witnesses believe in God. However they have differences on the view of his son. Hence why they do not celebrate the Holidays... Easter, Christmas, etc. So for the record, I am Christian.

Pauly, thanks... I appreciate that. :)

Well I'm glad you think that but a lot of people don't feel the same way. And my statment was geared for those types of people. Look, no one knows if there is a god or not ---All I was trying to say is if someone is a good person, treats people the way that he wants to be treated, how could any god not bring him in. Regardless if he worshipped him or not! These are the types of people that you would think that someone who is all about love would want regardless----Whats wrong with a person who is good that when he dies and comes before god---He tells god WOW, you do exist, I was a very stubborn person who just needed phyiscal proof----Hope you forgive me and understand! How could he not take a person like that in. Some of the people on this thread say that unless you worship him, you will not get in. Makes no sense. Unless like I said god really is that insecure!

I pose this one question...if god exists, how can there be so many different and totally opposite interpretations of him or them? Who's religion is wrong? Who's is right? The fact is, they are all wrong. God doesn't exist.

Anybody ever see STIGMATA

makes you wonder if those writings from Jesus were actually found what happened to them. If they went public with it there would be no need for any religion, church, Vatican.....etc. That movie made ya think. it's true tho, if those scriptures were found, churches and all financial status of them would be no more.

That's all any of us can do isn't it, Revenant? :)

God bless...

There is no wrong or right religion, believe in your own. Have a personal relationship with God and go from there. I honestly believe that not one particular treligion is right or wrong. There are many different variations and practices. i think if YOU personally try to have a relationship with God the road will be paved for you.

Religion is simply the base of divine introduction. It is only a gateway to your relationship with God, in whatever form you believe.

Live right and trust in him. For me, I believe God is peace and love - And I will do everything in my power to honor him as my father and my creator.

Your views are flawed. By what standards do you consider yourself good? For example, what guidelines do I live by that make me a "good person". You see???!!! "Good" is all a matter of interpretation...What is good to you may not be good to others. Who are you to say that you don't have to worship the son of god jesus christ or follow the views of the Torah? What makes you so riteous? You see....There is no god because there are so many different religions! How does one know the "correct" path.

Matthew 19:16-17 -

And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?

And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.

-

Admittedly, even Jesus was not "Good".

I'm not saying that I personally follow this-I'm not stating that I'm good--but I get what your saying---You say god doesn't exist---I'm not disagreeing with you or agreeing. I'm just questioning certain religions that say one must live a certain way. Your right, what way would be right! We can find flaws in everything regarding religion...I think if you go down the line in every religion, one would find the same result.
