Beginners Workout ??

Alright guys just a quick question my cuz has got the urge to start working out with me now but I do not know where and how I should start him. He has never really ever worked out, he is 23 years old and about 6'4" and 215 pounds with a beer gut. Any suggestions would be great as I do not really know where to start here.

I have become a big fan of Jim Wendler's 531. He has a base program that is just a 3 day workout that will give a solid foundation.

I would start out with a 3 day split based around squats, deadlifts and bench. The good old push/pull/legs routine will give you a solid foundation.
