Beater Bike Question

As an experienced rider and owner, it's time for me to get a beater bike. You know one that I don't have to clean/shine weekly or that I don't have to spend gobs of money getting serviced (ducati or aprilia) or buying parts.

Basically I want a v-twin, 750+cc range, from yamaha/suzuki/honda et al. I have 5K cash I can blow, not willing to finance, but not looking for brand new either figure about 2-3 years old.

With those limitations, what should I expect? Is the CBR600 a v-twin?

You're kidding about the CBR600.....right?

As for a japanese beater V-twin around the 750cc mark....why not just buy a TL1000S? They are cheap and nobody really wants them. Or, you could buy a raced out Suzuki SV650 that is maybe bored out a little bit. The SV is a great little v-twin.
