BBing deaths

I would like to see some evidence to back up this claim about Alzado dying from aids. Not because I think your a liar, but because I am interested in where you got your info.

Curtis loeffler, a top amateur died from a heart attack. From what I have red, many "ironagers" have health problems.

Here's some articles doing a quick search on "Lyle Alzado and aids"

http://aquatic.fitdv.com/new/section_body/articles2/bodybuilders.html

Believe it or not, there isn't really any proven documentation of any bodybuilder having major health problems or any other long-term negative side effects from the use of steroids. There was an NFL player who said he got a heart transplant because he used steroids while he was active in the NFL. Problem is, two weeks after he said that, it came out on the news that he had a severe cocaine problem for many years. Then you have Lyle Alzado, who passed away, but before doing so went on national television to spread the word that his brain tumor was caused by steroid use. Problem is, his particular tumor was directly correlated with AIDS, HIV. I know of no man who has ever had either of these two problems.

The most worrisome thing we hear about anabolics is cancer. There was a lot of publicity about how Lyle Alzado, a former football player, thought his brain cancer was caused from using anabolic steroids. This is simply not true. There is no association between brain cancers and anabolic steroids. Even liver cancers are very rare in their use. Since their development in the 1950s, fewer than fifty cases have been reported, and half of those patients had a rare anemia, a condition that in itself predisposed them to liver cancer anyway. In all cases, the patients who got cancer, which usually goes away when the anabolic steroids are stopped, were taking high-dose anabolics for two to seven years without a break, something that is never done today. Most doctors cycle anabolic steroids, giving the medication for twelve to 24 weeks at a time, then stopping it for a few months. Given this way there is very little (if any) risk for development of a cancer.

I started this article with a reference to Lyle Alzado. Alzado was an NFL football player who passed away a few years ago from a debilitating disease, possibly AIDS. At one point he said, in public, that his ultimately fatal condition was caused by his "steroid abuse." The North American media latched onto this and integrated it into their smear campaign against these drugs, something that had been going on for several years previously. Androgens were placed on a restricted access schedule in the US in the mid-80's, mostly because of anti-drug hysteria. (As a side note, Alzado's personal physician has stated publicly that Alzado's death was completely unrelated to his AAS use.) The most visible subculture that uses these drugs regularly is the bodybuilding world. In fact, a lot of the misinformation about AAS comes from within bodybuilding. In other cases it originates from outsiders who do not understand what is going on. One frequent argument that you hear is that AAS supplementation is dangerous because... well, think about how unhealthy competitive bodybuilders look. And heck yes, they're unhealthy. They starve themselves, tan incessantly, supplement sloppily with human Growth Hormone, play with insulin and thyroid medications, take crazy diet supplements like DNP (originally used as a bug poison) and take dangerous diuretics before competition. Of everything that bodybuilders take, AAS are without a doubt some of the safer drugs.

ok bros...

it took me 4 hours to dig it up in a magizine. i had 2 years worth of flex, MD, and MM to go through and of course it was in the last mag i checked....

Momo Benaziza, Andreas Munzer, Don Ross, Jeep Swenson, Mike and Ray Mentzer.

Both Mentzer's had pre-existing hereditary heart conditions, probably made worse by AAS abuse, which Mike admited to. Momo or Andreas died from diuretics. The other from complications related to long term abuse but not def. caused by juice. Nobody's coroner report said died from nandrolone poisoning.

thanks for all the input bros

Ray Mentzer shot himself in the head. How is that not suicide?

None of the others listed died of steroid abuse complications. Period.

Jeep had a heart attack. Muntzer was taking wierd ass drugs... not steroids. Don Ross had a heart attack.

CONTEST PREP

CONTEST PREP IS THE REAL KILLER BUT I GET THE FEELING THAT EVERY IFBB PRO COULD DROP DEAD TOMORROW AND MOST BODYBUILDERS WOULD SAY THE CAUSE WAS NOT STEROID USE. CAN YOU SAY DENIAL?

Corleone- I think you are 100% correct with your info.

Thanks Vegas,

The media would blame steroids for half the nations problems if it could. The fact of the matter is they have to lie to justify their stance. The propoganda in this country is insane. Steroids are not the deadly, brain tumor causing drugs that the media makes them out to be.

MrTechno - what did u mean by your post. all i was stating was BB with probs or died. i wasnt saying it was cause of drugs cause death from steroids really can't be proven. SofaGeorge And Ray mentzer did not shoot himself in the head so that is how it is not suicide. And i agree with you also Corleone
