Bartending School?

all it does is teach you drink recepies but you can learn that on your own. i mean the drinks that most people order are simple ones anyway. why are you thinking of going?

Something I was looking at to see what it costs - got some free time on my hands right now, might be a nice option for some cash & get out of my cube life & socialize a bit.

Bartending school is a joke, it doesn't teach you anything you wouldn't learn in two weeks on the job, plus it doesn't teach you how to interact with people. The bar I worked at woulnd't hire anyone who went to one on general principle.

yes you would want to get hired on somewhere and trained that would be alot better a 2 week school will prob cost like 500

If you have absolutely no experience in "hospitality", how would you go about doing that?? Just walk in some place & say "I wanna be a bartender?"

To be blunt, you are attractive and have large boobs, therefore you have all the tools you need to make money as a bartender. And yes you can just go to bars and put in applications, learning drinks is the easy part, having the right social skills to deal with bar folk is the hard part.

Who do you know? Anyone that works in a bar, or maybe owns one, or a friend of a friend?

A few of my buddies bartend with no schooling. May as well save the money. The school might help get you in the door somewhere if you don't know anybody.

Like scotsman said though, your pretty easy on the eyes so that is a huge plus. Obviously they will know your reliable because you have another job and are older (not some college dropout who doesn't know responsibility)

I did it. It was dumb.....3 weeks of learning drinks, some classes on when to cut people off, wine presentation etc. My rents paid for it as a getting out of the Marine Corps present. Waste of my time....learned alot a shit, so i wont look like a complete newbie when i start at the beach this summer. It depends on if you wanna drop between 500-1000 dollars. My opinion? No

its a very good job in the short term

school costs about 600 bucks

stay in each bar for a year or less and save you money to do other things

I thought about that but bartenders tend to start drinking.

A great deal.

I'm a competitive bodybuilder - I dont' drink and I dont' recover so fast from drinking anymore either.
