Baking Chicken Breasts

My friends tell me this is WAY easier then using the GF grill, especially since I make 9 at a time.

Is there any way to make 9 chicken breasts in the oven? I tried a while ago, and after a hour they weren't even cooked.

Can someone tell me the proper way to do this, and if it's actually easier then using the GF grill ?

I usually buy a 3 packages of chicken, and they are 1.5lbs each typically, so I'm guessing they are 7-8oz each uncooked.

an hour? Dude, that should take like 20 minutes. Get a big enough pan, put down an sheet of aluminum foil (shiny side up). Spray with Pam, or olive oil... Pam is easier and it avoids fat. Lay them out, spice as necessary. If your oven is at like 450, it won't take long at all.

How big are the breasts & are they still frozen when you put them in the oven?? If they are still frozen or partially frozen or very thick, then yes they can take a while to cook.....If they are very big - cut them in half or into strips....

Just put them in a glass baking dish or on a pan lined with foil and bake for about 30-45 mins at 350 degrees F.

45min @ 325

So 45 minutes @ 325 for 4.5 lbs of chicken breasts?

Also do i need to flip them over? And what kind of pan should I be using...

and yes they are fresh (not frozen)

Can I use one of those disposable tin foil pans you get at the store?

You can bake them in any container you happen to have, provided they are oven proof.....no you don't need to flip them over.....

If in doubt that they are done - just cut one in half.....

Two more quick questions:

Do I need to rinse off the chicken?

and can I use a disposable pan from the store?

No you don't need to rinse off the chicken....

You can use whatever pan you'd like.....you may want to spray the bottom with some cooking spray so they don't stick....

45 minutes at 400 degrees

try taco seasoning, pepper and olive oil

Hehe everyone keeps giving me different degrees!

Soo lets get a final consensus - 9 chicken breasts (4.5lbs raw)

for 45 minutes at 400 degrees, middle rack, right?

yes but put on Bake not Broil

45 minutes at 400 will cook them but not over cook them, so they will still be tender inside.

after the 45 minutes is up let stand for another 10 minutes before you eat them

Well I usually let them cool off for 10-15 minutes, then chuck them in a ziploc bag for the week.

I will give it a shot, I hope 45min at 400 is enough to cook these bad boys :)

I will try it out tommorow, and let you know how it goes. Is it ok if I use a deep tray that you get at the supermarket, or should I use a flat tray?

deep tray is best so when you put olive oil and whatever spices you will use it will permeate the breaset more. hence more flavor!

oh so those disposable tin foil looking ones are fine? I have a few of them in my house that aren't used, and definitely fit 9 breasts...

I use a tempered glass

its reusable and the heat is more even

If you're worried about them not being fully cooked you can always get a meat thermometer. That's what I use. And it does usually end up being about 45 minutes for 9 breasts. :) Although I cook at 350 typically. And the pan you're talking about is fine.

One thing, Costco has some pre-flavored chicken breasts for about 3.70 per lb. Comes in three varieties, lemon herb, teriyaki, and mediteranian. They taste great, have a lot of flavor, and really don't have any extra noticeable carbs or anything. They are just fresh packaged breasts with marinade in the package. Pull out, cook, and have a super tastey chicken breast! They usually come in a pack of 9 breasts.

Just a little tidbit on easy flavorful cooking.

Thanks for the tip Jens :)

*SIGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH*

BASICALLY..........IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT TEMP YOU BAKE THEM AT!!!!!

The *time* will be the factor in doneness....so 400 degrees F will cook them "faster" then 325 degrees F........

And the pan DOESN'T MATTER as long as it doesn't *explode* on you in the oven!! So! If it's *ovenproof* - ie Pyrex, hard foil/disposable, et al - if it gets the job done it doesn't matter!!!

Cooking is about feel & touch & experimentation. Cook the things at X time & X temp & see if if works for YOU......

Thanks for all the info everyone!!!

I'll buy some breasts tommorow, and bake them up!!

Maybe I'll take pics and post them up!! jk jk jk

The local butecher shop sells pre-marinated boneless chicken breasts in a dozen flavors for $1.69 lb right now. I've been eating a lot of chicken lately....
