Bacon on ketosis diet?

Do you all eat bacon during your ketosis diets?

I understand getting enough fat is key but man I feel like a slob when I eat bacon or sausage...I did ketosis before about 3 years ago with great results but I cannot for the life of me remember if I ate these two things.

My protein is up around 250-300 grams a day and fat levels I'm not TOO sure about but they're decent.....just feel really guilty eating bacon.

I know very little about CKD, but I'm nearly sure that bacon and sausage-hell, any meat , is okay. But I too feel like a slob when I eat that sort of thing, and I'm sure that the saturated fats are not good. So you might be better off eating some turkey bacon, or if you want a crispier version of turkey bacon, just put a bit of Olive oil in a pan and fry it up. That way you get healthy fat, no carbs, and lots of protein.

Hope that helps.

Thanks guys. I just really have a "mental" issue with eating bacon and sausage lol, even though they're carb free. Yea i'll give the turkey bacon a shot.

CKD with 250-300g of protein ???? Sorry man but Mr X will probably rip you a new one on that. Excess protein can be converted to carbohydrates at a 65% Effeciency so you can bet a lot of that protein is excess and is being converted to carbs. Staying\Getting in Ketosis will probably be a bitch with that much protein. OH by the way bacon is fine

Maybe so. I actually went through and counted my actual protein for the last 3 days and it's been right between 200-250 grams.

I usually have no problem getting into ketosis by day 3. I never believe in going under 200 grams of protein a day no matter what kinda diet I'm on.

58% efficiency i believe.

I'm going to give you a hint. Your body can clinically proven maintain it's LBM on 15% of your total BMR cals per day coming from protein. I believe I readthat in one of MR.X's reports. Therefore since NO ONE should be on a CKD to GAIN muscle, there's no point in taking in 200 grams of protein, unless that IS 15% of your BMR in protein.

Good point, muscle gain is not possble without the presence of Insulin so excess protein is not needed.

ZKaudio 58% efficiency i believe.
Whoops my bad 58%:D

Ok guys thanks for the info. I'll keep that protein intake in mind. I'm gonna try it my way for 28 days and then I'll let ya'll know how it goes.

Currently I'm 220, looking to ideally end up around 205 minus the body fat. I realize with ketosis i'll strip off a little muscle so that's why I'm heading back to 100-150 g carbs after the 28 days is up...slowly reintroduce the carbs and keep the cardio going.

5am jaunts in the pool are really a rude awakening!

a ckd, is CYCLED, and thus should involve signifcant amounts of carbohydrates at certain times. the anabolic diet is a variation of a CKD and i have used it to put on 20lbs (most of it lean) this school year.

no, without insulin you cannot gain muscle.
CKD != insulin

for what its worth there is some insulin realease when you eat fat and protein. not to mention what happens when you carb up (generally 2 days out of 7 on anabolic diet).

ok, point taken. However, the catabolic effects you are most likely going to experience during days 1-6 will most likely nullify any gains you make from your day 7 carb up. I'm kind of a bad example.. lol .. since i've been on my ckd my lifts have gone up... and according to my stix i'm in deep ketosis.. lol thank you nyc :D I'd honestly say I can attribute my strength increase to eca/nyc as I react particularly well to them.

well on the AD you carb up normally on days 6 and 7, low carbs ~30/day on days 1-5. dipasquali (sp?) says you only have to be 'near ketosis' whatever that means. i'd think some people are in ketosis with 30g of carbs a day, depending on how they eat them. i am only rehashin this because normally i gain fat really easilly while bulking, but this past bulk of 20lbs has been pretty lean for me, so i am happy with the results to say the least.
