back symmetry issue.

For about a year or 2 i've noticed a lack of symmetry in my lats. One is longer/more narrow and the other is wider/shorter. I thought it could be from manual labor and favoring a particular side when shoveling, raking, etc. But I recently noticed that my older brother has the same exact issue (he has a desk job, and lifts passively).
Is it possible for this to be a genetic issue?? and if so, whats the best way to over come this?, increased one arm sets in their respective exercises? heavier weight on their respective exercises? hitting them on separate days?
I just assumed that adding more mass would eventually cause them to equal out, but it hasn't.
any feedback much appreciated:elephant:

Running / Swimming will help

basically full body activities a couple of times a week assure symmetry and balance

if you lift alone, or just work and lift, Asymmetries can and will arise

When I lifted alone I found doing your exercise one arm at a time useful for correcting assymetries. Hammer machines are good for this because the weight for each arm is designed to move independantly . You can use anything though if you are creative. DB versions instead of barbell one arm at a time on the lat pulldowns etc.

This idea works because one side of your body will help the other and work to even things out.
