Well things went pretty well this evening. I had suffered a strain in the lower back a few weeks ago, but now things are better. Based on my personal experience, I found that adjustments, rebab work, and light training helped get through this injury. For the first time in a few weeks, I was able to perform some squats tonight. . nothing heavy, but its a start. Here are the details of tonights session:
1. Barbell Curls -
70lbs x 10, 100lbs x 10, 120lbs x 10, 140lbs x 10
2. Hammer Curls -
30lbs x 10, 40lbs x 10, 50lbs x 10
3. Behind the Back Barbell Wrist Curls -
135lbs x 10, 155lbs x 10, 185lbs x 8
4. Seated Toe Raises -
2plates x 40, 3 plates x 25, 3p + 1 q x 15, 4 plates x 10
5. Squats (low intensity. . trying to get the feel)
135lbs x 5
225lbs x 3
275lbs x 3
315lbs x 3
335lbs x 3
355lbs x 3
6. Lying Leg Curls
80lbs x 10, 100lbs x 10, 120lbs x 10
Notes**
- Things felt good, no pain in the joints.
- good blood flow in the muscles
- plenty of stretching and warming up
- used a slightly wider than shoulder width on squats
- speed felt good
The option was there to use the leg press as a substitute, but the lower back felt good and other people were squatting, which helped motivation.
Has anyone else ever had a minor setback and what did you do to get through it?
