Babel: A Review

Sizzled then fizzled. Started out great and promising. The whole movie from the beginning showed some fucked up shit was going to go down -- but I was a bit disappointed. So, the screenplay in essence seemed to do a half-assed job. It's pretty long too at 2 hrs. 20 mins.

Gael Garcia Bernal was great as was Cate Blanchett -- although I didn't expect them to be anything else but great.

Beautiful scenery and plenty of young asian unshaved snatch too.

I realize I wasn't supposed to laugh at all during this film but I did. Gael Garcia Bernal has a hilarious scene with a chicken that made me have a lolocaust.

I'd say 21 Grams is better. Rent it before you buy it -- it's one of those movies where you really may only want to watch it once.

its your opinion i loved the movie and have watched it 4 times since i bought it when it released on dvd..

Well I mean it won one Academy Award (Best Original Score), yet it was nominated for the most with seven.
well, its a brad pitt movie so that is to be expected. the best original score was a mercy win

Yeah. On another note, I'd say Seven is Brad Pitt's best movie and that it should have received much more critical acclaim than it did.

I liked that one. I thought he was good in fight club too.

do you think he juiced for it?

all the stories were very interesting.. i thought it was a good story..

i especially like the story of the deaf chinese girl.. i liked how at the end the note she gave to the cop was her mothers suicide note..

its up to perspective but possibly the chinese dad and mute had an incest relationship and thats why she was so weird and why her mother killed herself..

*Spoilers don't look if you haven't seen it*

I just thought it would have been better if this happened:

1. The note was her suicide note, stating her father did molest her, and she jumps off the building. Also that she was upset with her father for still being an arms dealer (explain later in post) even after her mother shot herself in the head.
2. The car the children are in crashes in the middle of nowhere because Bernal's character is drunk. The helicopter that Brad Pitt's character was waiting for gets word that the helicopter had to save two children in a crash in the desert that are his children and his wife dies. I just had the idea that the wife was dead and accepted it since it was said in the movie many times.
3. Since the Asian father's profession was so mysterious, I was hoping he would be an arms dealer and that he felt guilty his wife shot herself in the head with his gun. Then hearing all the shit he's caused by selling guns especially from the main shooting in the film, he realizes what he's done with his life.

lol i like those twists.. it was a really sad movie especially the part where the mexican woman gets deported..

I didn't like it.

And the deaf mute girl scenes were painful to watch.
