I know Couture is no longer an elite fighter, but I don't know anyone who even gave Toney a chance here. If you took either Klitschko's (older, but still effective, Couture equivalent) and put them up against a washed up, out of shape MMA guy (Toney equivalent), I'd go with the boxer.

I still can't understand why Couture fought him. He wins, Toney sucks and he should have. He loses, it's a black eye on MMA/UFC. He really gained nothing (cept a fat paycheck) by fighting.

Not saying he does. I just figured he could have fought, you know, an actual MMA fighter. Personally I didn't care at all about this fight.

I wanted to see Davis vs Diaz, Florian vs Maynard, and Penn vs Edgar. Couture vs Toney was more of a novelty thing for me. Which would make sense if this was a free event, but I doubt any casual fans were gonna pony up cash to watch a couple 40 year olds go at it.

He can't compete favorably against the young studs at 205lbs nor the widebody elites in heavy.
