I know, I saw your post, I never used an alter and it was all a test, then we realized we got screwed by the karma transfer fees and couldnt reset back to normal.
We were literally in the hole hundreds of thousands of karma points, there was nothing we could do and so we had to come up with a way to cover the glitch up so people didnt go nuts with karma and fuck up the whole karma system until the bug until it was fixed.
The mods knew of the bug immediately

We had it for like a few minutes when you noticed it, damn you were fast, we thought that it was going to explode any second and ruin everything. It was super cool that you kept it secret too.
As everyone knew that I was making a joke about the darkside the whole time and going into red. People were transferring karma to me to keep me out of it for fun.
Then Ivanofflevitch shows up with -2500k, surpassing my neg. karma. I thought it was the mods doing it as a joke with him b/c I said I wanted to have the highest red karma in the history of EF.
I said on that thread, no way, its not possible, you cant transfer more than you got. Well we had to test that and it turns out you could transfer 999,999k. That was the bug.
Problem was is that after the test was done, the karma transfer fees crushed us b/c we used such high transfer amounts. We were screwed by the math, I dont care about karma, but those who do we didnt want people to go nuts with the bug, you see, if I had a huge hundreds of thousands of neg karma, it would have drawn far too much attention to the bug and people would figure it out, we didnt know if everything at that point could be restored to normal. We didnt want the secret to get out and have everyone ruin the system, hence we covered
We just shut up, I transfered all my k to the mods, only my first transfer was to someone else that wasnt involved in it for 200,000k. That, unfortunately got spread, the other stuff was just theoretical transfers of nothing all of it got washed back in through karma fees or transfers to mods. It was a couple of hours last week and then we shut up about it until it was to be fixed. We had no idea what they were going to do.
Since only about 200000k had been lost I figured theyd just go back and snatch that.
The huge problem we realized immediately was that by finding the bug, we were playing with real money as it has a monetary equivalent b/c people were paying for it. There was nothing we could do but just keep quiet until they figured out what to do with the bug.
We didnt think that the transfers would go through, then we were like, holy shit! were dooooomeedd!!
I was 800000k in the hole at one point and up 1.2million at another. By the time the trax were all covered up, I was back at zero, where I was at the beginning of it all. Then we just sat and waited for everything to be fixed. We were not trying to exploit it and there was no way to correct it without covering our trax and letting them deal with it, I mean what if everyone just went crazy with the k bug and they werent able to fix it, wouldve ruined years of people giving karma, I mean we had no idea what could or could not be done to fix the problem, so we covered and shutup about it and let the smart people come up with the solution

actually, to be fair, i should not discount the possibility that lestat purchased karma primarily as a means of supporting the site. if that be true, then such an act may not be pathetic.
