So I went with a friend to Costco today.. I don't have a membership so I am rarely there,

I found CANNED chicken breast. It comes in a can like canned Tuna. You can get 6 cans for 8.99 or something close to that.

Each can is 12.5 oz. That is what they consider 5 servings of Chicken. Each serving is 2 oz and has 13g of PROTEIN, .5 g fat, 0g carbs, 0g sat fat.

So one can, which can easily be eaten in a sitting, is 65g of protein, 2.5 fat, 0 carbs.. only 300 calories!

The chicken is really bland, a little salty.. i can eat it straight up just fine.. or throw it on a sandwich with mustard.. or mix it into some chicken salad.

i bought that stuff, tasted like tuna lol. it comes in a white can right? it looks all chunky and "real" on the label but when you open the can it looks like and smells like tuna. i found that the best way to eat it was on a pizza, or mixed in with some low fat chilli. also the usually miracle whip dousting does the trick too.

The reason mosr canned goods have that certain taste your describing is because of the high sodium content. If you run the meat under water in a strainer it should pretty much kill that taste and smell. Then of course condiments help too.

I agree it does have the look, texture, smell, and slight taste of Tuna. I think it has LESS flavor though which is good if you want to spice it up with something (ie Chili) or just shovel it down and not have to worry about getting sick of the taste.

CreatureofNight is right, its the sodium that makes it taste like most other canned foods.

As far as straight from the can goes... if Tuna gets too tiring, Salmon is my new mistress. Higher fat, of course, but it isn't tuna. Much better tasting, IMHO, althogh less dirt-cheap.

We get that chicken from costco all the time...
I occasionally eat a can.. but I really don't get many cravings for it..... Actually for some reason the thought of it right now is making me sick.. even though i don't mind it. I'd much rather grab a frozen chicken breast(in the big bags from costco) on the bbq and eat a nice warm piece of chicken that has real texture :) yumm yumm... guess what I'm going to eat for dinner?
Now Salmon in a can is DAMN good. Who cares if its got fat, salmon fat is an essential fat so its not that bad for you. If you really don't want any fat in your salmon get the "pink" salmon... but if you want the great yummy taste of good salmon, the sokeye salmon is totally the way to go.. yumm yumm.. maybe a salmon steak and a chicken breast for dinner tonight
heh

Those big bags of frozen chicken breasts are the bomb. They probably cut my food bill in half compared to fresh chicken.

Costco is heaven to find great food Allllooooottt cheaper than almost all grocery store...

Big bag of Oatmeal, Eggs, amazing pizza in a box...meat, meat, meat...

Healthwise canned foods aren't good, but for purely for convenience and reaching a goal (fat loss, getting enough protein, etc) canned chicken is great. I usually drain it w/ water a couple times then add chili powder and some Franks Hot Sauce, these are awesome and completely cover the salty taste.

I bought some of the frozen chicken breasts from Sams Club and they tasted like rubber... What brand are you guys buying that tastes good? I would love to stop cooking chicken every week!
