Auto Racing

Anybody into it. Not just watching Nascar, but out on the track? I've seen a forum for just about everything on Elite, but no racing.

I autocross my DD , a 91 318 is, when I get the chance. When an event allows I will get it out on the open track for some roadcourse action.

My weekend is more of a drag racer. 03 gt Moostang on nitrous and a few other goodies.

Just curious, hadn't run across anybody posting about it and thought with the population size of elite surely a few memeber had to be into it.

What track are you going to? I went to a race at Talledega a few years back just to see what it was all about. Comparable to a redneck mardi gras. Beers and Tits everywhere. Just gotta expect the mullet population to join in.

I like F1. Went to see the race in Montreal last summer. I may try lapping/GT this summer with my own car.

Cali Speedway. doing some work for Daytona but not going there.

my uncle back home used to race. It was one of those tracks on mountains. Its fun seing how all of them avoid death in split second.

At night, me and my cousin would go on that same track and just see how fast he can take those curves. Adrenalin rush is the shit.

Talladega is the best track you could go to. best racing and definately the best party. Out in the middle of redneck country and gotta love the beer and tits everywhere. I've been there like 4 times and can't wait to go back.

There were a few people on here a while back that were into racing, dont remember who though. Sre30 and myself are pretty hardcore into racing to say the least. Some people make fun when i tell them i drive a civic but after i tell them how i go vette/street bike/lambo hunting on the streets they see things differently. Anymore racers here? I know there has to be a few.

btw- here is a pic of my "little civic" haha

I like to watch F1 on TV, would love to attend a ROAD race someday (where they turn in both directions...). I tried SCCA Solo 2 Autocross a couple of times in the early 1980s but couldn't hack it. Eyesight problems with depth perception limit my ability to negotiate the pylons. I think I could probably manage a decent solo run on a track, but on an artificial circuit that's delineated only by pylons, I can't visualize the course, I just see a sea of identical orange cones.

I did a couple of SCCA events locally back when I had a Stock Supra..
Lots of fun not running over those little cones at 40 MPH in a Mall parking lot.
Also, not as easy as one would think.

Also fun seeing veteran dudes in their Slammed Pickup trucks owning all of
the rich kids in their stock BMW's with better times..

Dang that sucks. No way to walk the course before hand and get a good mental picture of it.

That's how I've cut a significant amount of time off.

Sports car racing (Grand Am, American Le Mans, Trans Am) is a blast, go to attend, Sebring, FL, Lime Rock, CT...Le Mans would be awesome

To be a driver in any of those series would be a dream come true.

Walking the course didn't seem to help, nor did the posted track layout. I could see the course as a spectator, when other guys were driving, but out there in a car it was just orange cones with the occasional human obstacle (corner workers... :)).
