i'm just curious here. what are your opinions on the current black leadership, primarily the ones that seem to be in the media spot-light: jesse jackson, al sharpton, louis farrakhan, etc.?

This post wreaks of hidden racist and new world order agendas and I demand it be taken down immediately! MODS! George! Jesse!?

Yeah, someone appoint themselves the representative of black people, so that they can talk about other people who have appointed themselves representatives of black people.

And who's the leader of the norwegian-americans? All ethnic groups have leaders right?

there is no hidden racism or agenda. i just see these people proclaiming themselves to be the leaders of the black community, but i don't think many members feel the same.

I always thought Bill Cosby would make a good president. I can just imagine Cosby talking to Saddam like he was a little kid. Then to make sure there was no hard feelings he'd give him a jello pudding pop.

They cause trouble and cry racism at every opportunity. They think something is owed to them and they let the fools that follow them believe that. I think all three of them should be locked up for Instigating trouble especially farakan. He is the most racist piece of shit out there, and anyone who is a follower/supporter of him is racist as well....

i dont recall asking someone to appoint themselves as some authority of the black community. i was asking what the black board members here think of these people.

or Japanese Americans demanding reparations. (Or if that does go on, then it's very obscure in the media)

Actually I think the Japanese that were put in WWII American concentration camps received a settlement. I'm not certain but I think I read something about that.

i pretty much knew which way you would go on this, since you're a fellow conservative :)

do you think they have as large of a backing within the black community as the media portrays them to have? and if so, why?

Jesse was by MLKs side when he was shot, he has lifetime credibility in the eyes of most blacks regardless of his actions.

Most Blacks are convinced that the Repubican party is bad news, although that is not the case. Perceived friends of blacks in the 60s were democrats (JFK, LBJ, etc), although that is also the party of George Wallace and other bigots. Most older blacks and black establishments are tightly aligned with the democrats. It takes a major leap of faith and independent streak for a black to bolt the democratic party and vote repulican.

in my opinion, having these people representing the black community, would be the same as having david duke representing the white.

i saw some debate on msnbc where (i forget his first name) armstrong, a member of the center for new black leadership (or something along those lines), was arguing that the NAACP does not deserve its non-profit status and was pretty much saying it was in bed with the democratic party and pretty much saying that jesse jackson and al sharpton were nothing but a bunch of corrupt gangsters.

people like walter williams would be far better than these other clowns.

I have a question: Why do y'all lump ALL black people (fuck that African American bullshit, since over 80% of the blacks in the US are of white ancestry as well) in the same category. And why didn't you put Colin Powel into that category?????????? Or is he not "black enough" in y'alls opinion?????

But to answer your question: I don't care much for Jessie or Al, they're all about self and I feel they do not represent the majority of the black people in the US, just a select few and it makes the rest of us look bad. I don't want any reparations for something that happend hundreds of years ago ( my legs are not broke my ass can get up and work).

And since I'm Christian I don't pay attention to the Nation of Islam.

Oh and I like the Republican party because both my hubby and I are in the military, and if it were not for Republicans we'd be in worse shape than we already are.

The Dem's know of their hold over the black population. As long as 80% of the black population votes democratic, they know they dont have to really do anything in their favor because they already have their vote.
