Over the past couple of weeks I have had several people come up to me telling me how much they want to put the weight on but are hard gainers. I ask them a couple of questions and find that they are stuck in a rut with their diet and routine.
If you are a "hardgainer" lets say 6' 170# and under and your body has not changed in the last 6 months. You need to take some serious inventory. I was talking to a guy with these exact stats...he was pretty lean but he did not look like he worked out. Plain and simple.
A coach of mine once told me the defination of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. So you need to take a step back and think. Am I getting stronger (or am i pushing the same tired weights around) am I growing (or do I still not look like I even know what the inside of a gym looks like)?
It truly amazes me that when people ask me for advice they "yeah but" me to death. If your body is not changing with what you are doing you need to change what you are doing. This does not mean using AAS. What will happen is you will inflate then deflate. I spoke to 2 people this week alone who told me that they did steroids and that is what happened to the both of them. This happened because they did not know how to train and eat properly.
Nutrition:
There is a great forum on this websight regarding nutrition. Use it. Learn all you can about what your body needs to grow. Keep a food journal. People who have a tough time putting it on generally get that full feeling quicker than most and do not realize how little they actually eat. Are you eating 6 quality meals per day? Do you know what constitutes a quality meal? Are you having a good post work out shake?
Training:
I tell people if you dont squat and deadlift you dont really work out. If you want to grow you need to do big heavy compound movements with proper form. I was telling some one about the 5x5 routine. They told me they tried it and it was too easy. I had to laugh. It starts out easy but any one who has done it knows that that is a motherfucker. Keep at it for a couple of months. The routine that you made up or a freind told you about has not done dick for you. This one works, many people have used it with great success. If you are eating well and doing that workout your body has to grow, period.
I know this is kind of rambling but if you get your act together and learn how to eat and train prior to taking AAS you will have a much better experience.
