I would make a list of what you can't have in your avatar / signature picture but I'm sure that I would miss something, so let's just say the raciest picture that you can have is something that you would find in Playboy.

A rule of thumb to go by is, if it is a picture or quote that would get you in trouble if you displayed it at work, chances are it will get you in trouble here as well.
