ATF Squat Form

Hey fellas........I need some help.....I am in a heated deabate with a dude that claims ATF is NOT PROPER and is horrible for your knees....of course, I have informed him otherwise and that it is actually BETTER for the knees than partial reps...I need a website or blog stated this theory....thanks.

I am gonna bump for anybody who has the page on MC2's site bookmarked....it is a post by Arioch I think with references and all......basically, when doing a narrow-moderate stance squat, the stress is taken off the knees and transferred to the hips (which are much better equipped to handle it) when you go ATF......stopping olympic squats high is like forcing the knees to act as breaks on your car....and breaks wear out. Paralell squats are HALF squats, and the only time they are acceptable is in the PL-version when you stand ultra wide and sit back, mechanically a completely different lift than an olympic squat.

Its funny as hell to see the look on peoples' faces when you do full squats. I was doing 465lb about a month ago and the guys doing partials next to me were amazed and couldn't believe I used no belt or knee wraps. I just grin.
I think I have only seen one other guy do a full squat at my gym.

Tell him this. Full squats transfer most of the shearing force to the hips instead of the knees. The hips are a lot stronger than the knees are. Plus when doing a partial squat, unless off a box, how do you know you are going down the same height each time? You don't. Starting Strength does a real nice job of covering this issue. Highly recommend that book. But for what is worth sounds like if God himself came down and told your friend that full squats were better he would not change his mind.
