At what weight do you get the straps out?

It depends what you're trying to deadlift. If you're doing 285 for your top set, then that's ok. If you're trying to rep 500 then it's a different story.

I use mixed grip and chalk for the top sets, but occasionally have to use straps.

Try not to use the straps until you have to. That should help your grip strength.

I would think the less crutches you can use the better. I throw heavier weights on there to help build my grip. For instance, my best right now is 375 after last set I may put 400 on (what I will attempt next time) and just let it hang a bit until it starts to slip. Then when I up the weights next time my grip seems better because my hands are use to it. Maybe its a mind game I don't know but it seems to work for me. :p

I have gone with and without. I know my grip can handle it without straps but I get a better workout when I can focus on my deads and not my grip. I usually use them over 225, but feel they make a real difference after 315. At 365 I start to fight my grip after 3 or 4 reps and can pull 8 easily with straps. Without straps my hands hurt to touch after back day. With straps I'm fine. I have been this ways for many many years and my hands have gotten no better. So I now always use them!

I use straps a lot with db over 65 and bb over 165 and chins with more than 45 around waist.

The reason why is ... I was getting pain later in the day in some of the joints in my hands. And I was getting that dam "hand asleep" wake up during the night.

Sure ... it helped with the heavier lifts.

I only deadlift 145 ( that's counting the bar) ..and I have trouble on the last couple of reps to get the weight up...what can I do to strengthen my grip as I am having trouble getting those last reps in as my grip slips....?

145lbs is A LOT more than 99% of 120lb girls that I know, lol

Chalk should help plenty. If your gym won't allow it, just sneak it back in your gym bag and chalk up 'discretely' and don't make too much of a mess. I never asked you this before, but do you pull with a mixed grip or double overhand? If you pull double overhand, try mixed grip....or, if you get a little pleasure out of pain, you can try the hook grip.

As far as the original question, I've never deadlifted with straps in my life. I can rep the most with a mixed grip....my 1rm with a mixed grip is the same as my 1rm with a hook grip. My goals were never bodybuilding-related though, so if they were I might feel a little differently if the whole point was just to train my back.
