at what rep range do you wrap your knees?

I try not to use any crutches for any rep range/ any weight.
not a crutch imo
a tool, a piece of safety equipment like a helmet.
if you are truely against any sort of "crutches" the only way for you to morally squat is nekkid
shoes help for stabillity-crutch
teeshirt acts as light armour-crutch
shorts give a super minor squat suit stretch-crutch!
btw i only wear them for triples and singles

I hope this is a joke...

I will only wrap in the 3 or less rep range. Even then I sometimes don't wrap on the 3's unless I feel I need to.

Cheers,
Scotsman

i go more by weight and how it feels on my knees. sometimes that goes hand in hand. i usually start wrapping at 315 for squats & 500 for hacks. It just seems to be the point where my knees feel unstable.

not what so ever.
wrapping your knees is not cheating or using a crutch
just like wearing a helmet to play football is not a crutch/cheating
both improve performance, both are for safety

Wrapping your knees does help the lift like a bench shirt would when bench pressing (though not as much).

Wearing shorts keeps my balls off the floor when squatting, not the same thing.

A helmet is a crutch, it is a weapon in football, ever play/ watch rugby, less injuries and much rougher sport.

Wraps do help like a bench shirt, which is why you should use them (and a suit), for maximum developement.
If you only train up to the failure point of your weakest link, you'll never fully develop the rest of your chain.
I hate knee wraps, so I usually only use them for singles.

I don't use any wraps or a belt.

If I can't lift it without it or without the the pain. Then, I go lighter.

But, of course I am not a power lifter.

I have 2 herniated disks. (from lifting too much when I was young and dumb) A dr. and Chiropractor told me to do back (and abs) but don't use a belt. They think it could weaken the body part while other is getting stronger. Setting myself up for another back injury.

i have used a belt ever since my training partner got a hernia (not outrageous weight either). it at least gives me piece of mind. but I only wear it for heavy pressing movements.

12-15 for those weights
don't you lose the tightness after that many?
mine blow out fairly quick, by the third rep there's not nearly as much spring effect.
proly time for some new wraps, going on a year old

i use my inzer belt for dls/sq over 315
it helps keep my arch...and i do abs 3-5 times a week to make up for the imbalance

Props on the abs. I have only done abs a handfull of times the last yr.

You gave me some incentive to start doing them again. thanks.

i got the really long ones from inzer. plus a powerlifter showed me how to prevent wrap blowouts.

I wonder if I should've used a belt for my 500lb deads yesterday? hmmm...

I use to wrap from 315 but changed just a couple months back to Tommy Kono Knee Bands. They are awesome. I put them on after a couple sets. They keep the knees warm and stable through my whole workout. I was kind of nervous when I first tried them figured they couldn't keep my stable for 600lb squats but they do. I recommend them to anyone who uses wraps. They are a bit of a bugger to get on. If you have hairy legs you won't for long.
I do wear a belt all the time as well. I am babying a hernia in my belly button and don't want it to get any worse so I kind of depend on the support of a belt to keep everything in place.

screw that!

I don't know, I sort of believe that using these tools, only helps push the target muscle further away from any kind of body synergy.. sure it might make my quads stronger and bigger.. but my knees are falling behind.

it almost seems like it's a guarantee that you'd have to continue to use wraps.. over and over again..

the only thing I'm thinking of trying are wrist wraps, but again, I'd much rather just make my forearms stronger.

I hardly ever wear a belt or knee wraps for anything. Recently pulled a raw 750 lbs after box squats. Did a 341 overhead log press.

A lot depends on how my body feels. On gym lifts I rarely ever wear much but more and more wear my wrist wraps loosely, elbow sleeves (loose and long), and knee sleeves on Strongman Events. When I do use knee wraps in training I'll use my loose APT knee wraps which I feel are the ultimate training wraps. They are about 1/2 of my Inzers and much less than that of my TP5000XL's. For training purposes...they get more than the job done and the last time I used them was when I did an OLY squat with 592 (no belt).

When it comes contest day...I'll put on my TP5000XL's though.
