At What Age Did You Start Lifting ?

21

14, my football coach made us all go to high school weightroom the summer before freshman year started and thats how I got into it.

16... wow, it's been 10 years. Time flies. Bulova soars

40 :(

I had dabbled with it a few times previously, at 18 and again at 23 or so, but 40 was when it became a life style choice.

18 started lifting 22 stared juice and went from 135 to 185 in 2.5 yrs, not too bad, but 210 would be ideal hhahaha

i started about the age of 14, when my dad moved away and bought me a set of weights, when i complained that i knew nobody there and , i was there everyweekend, so i decided i might aswell use the weights.. after about 3 weeks, i had a program and everything. shame really the doc said it stunted my growth. he says i would at least be 5,4- 5,5.. but because i started that early im only 5,2 ... :worried:

You need a new doctor, this one is an ignoramus.

na na na,, they said something like i was lifting too heavy, for my body weight. and that it would not be doing me spine any good. which would stunt my growth. mainly because of my age. thats the main reason why most gyms over here are 16+ .

i was 11. started picking up my dads and bro's duct taped up dumbells. 34 now with only one serious layoff.

Started at age 14. Instantly fell in love with it. By the end of the season, I was the second strongest person in the school. By my senior year, I was the strongest. I've never stopped since. Just trying to maintain now.

basicly the same, but do you guys not feel getting older it gets harder to fit it in your time ?? i have had to cut back alot., but its all going to change cause im changeing my ways, and fuck going out getting pissed all the time ! ive tried that and its just not making me happy.

Yes, it's harder to motivate myself now. I only workout each bodypart once a week as that's all I can take, but sometimes that week stretches into 1 1/2 weeks. I have the least amount of motivation that I've had in years right now. We'll see if I workout tonight. I'm scheduled to work out in my garage because I missed going to the gym. Also I've got more going on like you mentioned. Makes it even more difficult.

bout' 25 years ago....I remember gettin into Muscle (& Fitness) magazine w/Lou Ferigno, Arnold, Metzners, Sergio, Corney, Platz, etc...

I was 13 and was totally stoked when I could put the 25lb wheels on the bench bar as my max....

For the next 25 years, I was in and out of it....more out as I was usually playing sports instead.

I'm 38' now and have been fairly serious for the past 4 years....no juice.

first trip to a gym at about 12, first weight set/bench press at 13, training was crap of course, what with kickboxing/running thrown in, went on a serious weight loss adventure at about 14 (went from 180 to 140ish...yes yes i know, i know, dont say it) then back into the weights heavily at 15. had one major layoff from choice (personal drama) and one from injury (shoulder, 16 weeks out) but thats it. last 3 years have been particularly good

lifting seriously for 6 years now, since I was 15. Had been lifting a year before that but it wasnt all that serious.

every time I go in the gym it gets more and more intense

there's rarely a day I dont feel sick after hitting the weights.

but I can only hit muscle groups once a week now...

I have D.B. to 70 lbs & 430 lbs in plates at home. I do most of my weight lifting there. Now a workout takes 1 hr instead of 2 (travel to gym, change etc.). I do cardio at the gym & ride a bike. Ya gotta make it a priority. If I couldn't work out I'd be fucked, health wise.

Lifting did not stunt your growth.

29, did my first squats at 30! I wish I was a lot bigger but also get to look at all the guys who have worked out for years and are smaller than me and laugh. I just can't wait to see what 2 more years of discipline will do for me! I'm 240 and lean now and think I can easily put on 20lbs in my legs!
