The less miles the better and you should be able to find a good used bike for 7k. If you go just one more thousand you can get alot newer and less miles too. Check for oil leaks of course and look at the chain and sprockets too.

I am sorry I mean the sprocket. See if the teeth are spread apart. Not that big of deal though they don't cost that much. Check for weird engine noises though. The best one to find is some guy that don't ride to good and is selling it because it scares him or his SO and they are making them sell it.

So can you manage 8k? If yes, go to cycle trader and put a budget of 3k to 8k and your state and what brand you want GSXR(notice how I put the best first), Kawa, CBR or yamaha.

Do you have a bike now or have you had one in the past?? If this is your first, while you're looking, check out a Honda RC51 if you come across one. . .race-ready, v-twin, thumper bike. . .turns lower rpms, less wear and tear on drive train. . .plus, it sounds unbelievable with some Staintunes on it.

It's a full-on sport bike with a v-twin motor. . .real torquey, tractable power. . .easy to ride even for a noob. . .that's why I mentioned it. :)

how much do you weigh? that will also determine a lot, if you are a 250lb guy like me a 600 just isn't gonna do you justice even if you are a newbie.

The gsxr 750 is one of the best all round bikes for damn near anyone, also cbr 900s are virtually indestructable. how much us dollars is 7k canadian by the way?

I know what an RC51 is.

Anybike that can wheelie in f1st-2nd on throttle alone isnt good for a noob.

Only on EF, it is acceptable to tell a noob to get a literbike for his first bike.

RC51"s are not a great street bike...they have side mounted radiators and get hot easily...they are made for the track basically to run at high speeds in order to stay cool...RC's are not for beginners at all....major torque in all gears, wheelies easily and can break loose the rear wheel just thinking about it...stay with a 600cc bike or a 750 tops...900's + are for more experienced riders IMO...you will not be disappointed.

How about a SuperHawk instead??

lol im not getting an RC-51! tho i LOVE it........ i'd rather pick up an R1 or a CBR1000RR

i have an obsession with the 750 Gixxer......
if i get a good deal on a GSXR600 i'll pick it up, even a 750.

i hear better things about teh R6 and the CBR600 for noobs.
i've rode before many times, but i have never owned one myself, so i know what to expect.
My purchase will also be for within reason. i just want something half decent to get back into riding on a regular basis........and then get something a little more "show" i guess, when i feel mature enough.

One more thing..... there are some really good deals going on for gear still...
is there a "preferd" brand name i should look at? like good reputation?
or does it not matter?

Look into Alpinestars, very high quality stuff.

i know we're talking about gear here, and duhh yes i know its important...is it nessessary for me to go A-Line with gear??
or just obviously reccomended?

Yo know whats funny?

I recently canceled the insurance on my bike because I sold it. I had my car and bike on the same policy.

My premium went up 700$!!!

So I could by a POS bike for 700$ and it would pay for itself!! lol

Ninja 250, here i come! haha

my insurance comp gave me discount only on the bike, having the car ad the bike on the same policy. Other companies wanted like between 1400-2000 $ full coverage and now I am paying arond 600$.

But lol, you got duped :lmao:

i pay insurance for 4ppl on my car.....at about $1700/year
my quote was $2400/year single drive on my car
and $2100/year for an R6
