arthritis

Im due to have keyhole surgery on my knee soon, because xrays show some arthritis. The doctor says if it is arthritis and nothing else, there will be little he can do for me. My knee is painfull and its got to the point where i can no longer squat, press or do leg extensions. I can however do leg curls no problem. If you've seen my other thread you'll know i have little faith in doctors unless you happen to be paying them large amoiunts of cash. Has anyone ever had a similar problem? what was the outcome?
thanks

Yes, I have arthritis in both my knees. I was banking on it being a cartilage problem, but scans showed up arthritis. However, maybe it was good to have had this diagnosed early. It meant I got good advice on avoiding anything that put pressure on the knees like jogging, driving long distances. I train very hard, but good practice and technique in my training, good rest, and never standing up for lengthy periods have allowed me to continue on very well.

Listen Dude, I replied to your last post and I'll give you the same advice again...Listen to your fucking doctor!! The days of being a big hero because you defied the medics and didn't give a fuck are long over.

I listened to one doctor and he suggested that i put a sand bag (one of those bags about half the size of a bag of suger) on the end of my leg a lift it up and down for 3 sets of ten reps, then i had ultrasound treatment... and you wonder why i have little faith in doctors?? Also to cap it off i saw a specialist at the london hospital sports injury clinic who said that if i went private they would be able to do something and that as i could still walk it wasnt a concern!! nice bloke eh?
