Arnold: An Unauthorized Biography by Wendy Leigh

If you haven't read this book....get to the library and read it! It's a great book about Arnold Schwarzenegger's life from childhood to the 90's.

If the movie "Pumping Iron" inspired you, then this book will even more.

Note - If it's not available at the library anymore, I've found it on the Internet in a paperback version for like $10. (the book is over 300 pages)

It's not that great. I wouldn't call it inspirational like Pumping Iron. I'd rather hear from Arnold himself than some investigative reporter's take on hearsay.

It wouldn't be the truth if it was solely from Arnold's people. He wouldn't tell the world how young he was when he started doing steroids. And you wouldn't get the truth about a lot of other things also. I liked it and I thought that it was well written. In fact, I think I'm going to check it out again, b/c it's been 7 years since I read it.

Well, I haven't read it in 10 years. It just did not inspire me. But I do remember from the book where Arnold was interviewed by Barbara Walters and her first question was, Do you use steroids? And Arnold said "Yes" but that he took them under a doctor's supervision, etc. And the view was that Barbara was taken aback by his honesty and then Arnold proceeded to charm her pants off. I don't think Arnold's steroid usage is a matter of debate. If you really like Arnold, it might be worth reading. Like I said, I read it. But it did not inspire me like Pumping Iron. I mean, Arnold is very inspiring. I did not think that the author of the unauthorized biography made him out to be an inspiration.

I don't think that Wendy Leigh took anything away from Arnold. You can't hurt Arnold and his greatness, because he is a legend and he will forever be liked by most people. When you hear the name "Arnold" - you think of one person, "The Austrian Oak."

If you like Arnold, you will love this book, and it will help motivate you with your bodybuilding drive even though it is an Unauthorized Biography. It doesn't matter!
