Arms locking up...cramping?

Today (and a few times over the past month) I finished my sets of squats and inlcine only to have my arm completely lock up. My bicep and forearm completely contracted to the point where i couldn't move it and had to use my other arm to straighten it out. It passed w/i a minute and I was able to finish my workout...although I felt on the verge of cramping a few times. Then at the end of my workout my upper abs completely locked up for a minute or two...it felt like what I imagine a heart attack would feel like, basically it sucked and I was lying on my back waiting for it to pass.

My question is, what causes this, and how can I prevent it? Would drinking a Propel or something before my workout help??

Are you taking creatine?

I don't think I'm dehydrated, I drink 1-2 gallons a day, typically closer to 2. I do take creatine, but typicallly only after I lift, which is 3 days a week.

I noticed some muscle cramping when I was taking creatine a while back... My friend commented on the same thing so I thought that might have something to do with it. I really don't know though.

Are you getting enough potassium? Do you purposely keep your salt intake low?

Hrm, good question. I take a multivitamin, but probably not enough potassium - I don't keep salt low on purpose nor do I add much to anything I eat.
