Armourthyroid and Cytomel........ What is the.....

difference between the 2? Im not too familiar with Armour thyroid, how does it differ from cytomel? advantages, disadvantages, etc?

I am using Armour right now. The most apparent difference is that one is synthetic T3 while the other is made from animal thyroid glands and contains both T3 and T4. According to our doctor friend Armour is much safer for longer use and doesn’t need to be ramped up or down. I shouldn’t be speaking for him though—hopefully DrJMW will respond to your thread.

Excellent synopsys. I have nothing more to add.

Armour thyorid is the shit! I'm hypothyroid and the synthyroid was doing nothing for me. The docs kept upping the dose. I finally convinced one to write a script for the Armour and BOOM! Worked like a charm'

It's supposedly less suppressive for two reasons -- one, it's from a natural source. And two, it contains the same amounts of T2 T3 and T4 that a human thyroid puts out. (It's made from pigs thyroid)

Armour is considered old fashioned by most docs but I believe that's because the pharmaceutical companies recommend the synthetic -- not suprisingly because they make more money on the synthetic. Armour is manufacted by, you guessed it, the meat company by the same name.

Although I'm not into recomending the use of thyroid medication for fat loss, Armour is supposedly what Zane took by the handful. Check out a pic from the 1979 Olympia to see the results.

My thyroid has a first name...

Maybe we'll see Armour testosterone in the near future. It would be a shame to waste a slaughtered pig's testicles.

Like the song says "everything old is new again". Armour is an oldtimer drug that still works great. You will feel much better than with the synthetic also.

This was just in another thread today wasn't it? Ironmaster remembers it too, that's cool. I used it a long time ago but dismissed it for lack of results. Cytomel is much more effective IMO. I said this in the other thread Armour is to Cytomel what prohormones are to steroids. Yeah they do something but it's not like the real deal.

Actually, Armour is making somewhat of a comeback in medical circles. A recent report in the New England Journal of Medicine found Armour to be effective in most folks with moderate hypothyroidism, and very effective for those lacking the ability to make the conversion required with Cytomel, since it contains the full spectrum of T hormones. Of course these guys don't study bodybuilders who are not really hypo, but who are looking for a metabolic ass kicker.
