Arguement at the gym today

Can anyone tell me why people feel the irresistable need to tell me i am doing exercises wrong?

Today is chest/shoulders for me and so i am doing flat bench which i have been doing since i started working out 2 years ago, i learned proper form from the owner of the gym i go to who is a natural powerlifting champion. Anywho, i am doing a set of 10 with 215 and when i finish up this cocky little highschooler with ELS decides to tell me how i can improve my bench.....needless to say i wanted to hear what he had to say if for nothing else a laugh and he tells me i should be using my lower back and legs alittle to help me get the weight up better....uhh i was speechless, i then asked him how he came about such an amazing discovery when it comes to form and how the lower back and legs help to develope muscle in the pecs, he made some wise ass comment like "do what you like but you're doing it wrong" and i couldn't handle it, i called over all the powerlifters who were on a break at the drink bar not too far from where i stood at the time for a teaching session for this little fucker, and when they explained he was wrong, he still wouldn't believe it ...ugh i would have loved to punch his ignorant self in his puffed chest, does he have to think he is arnold just because hes trying to show off for the girls in the gym or what? can anyone get inside this kids head and tell me what the fuck hes thinking!?

please note the only muscles the kid works are "arms, abs and chest...cause its all girls care about" :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

Well duh!! Of course thats all girls care about. <sarcasm>

Girls like only those muscles until they need to be carried, or have something lifted. Then the little toothpick for legs boy feels like an ass, and I get my laughs.

My generation as a whole makes me, as an individual, look stupid.
 
The boy is talking about the 'Spring Style' of Powerlifting and sorry, he's right, you can push up more. Powerlifting is not about the pecs, it's about using the whole body as a spring. BBing Style is about Pecs.
 
I think it's a fact that the more out of shape someone is, the more they feel the burning desire to share their fitness/diet tips.

I love a guy with a big built upper body and tiny little chicken legs. Mmmmm....
 
unknown, yes you are correct in stating the spring style, however that wasn't what i was doing, nor does the kid powerlift or know what powerlifting is im sure so his analysis of my bench is incorrect as was his arguement.

i second that,we fall into the trap because we are in the same age as the rest of these punks,where i dont have much in common with many my age
 
you will always battle stereotypical trendy bastards no matter what the generation you are in, its a fact of life, just like most people in theres 20's like me wear abercrombie cargo pants, buckle shoes, and tucked in dress shirts :rolleyes:
