I take them all the time without food, it has never bothered me. I guess it depends on how sensitive your stomach is.

i take them right after I eat, if I take them on an empty stomach I end up with the serious bloat later on in the day, some people it doesn't happen to.

Never had any problems with stomac pains when not eating food when taking them. I have 5mg tabs and I take 5 in the morning. I swallow 3 and let the other 2 dissolve under my tounge. They taste like Crap!
