Are There Serious Dangers To Sleep Deprivation?

Well i really need to know the answer to this question. If i go about 5 days without sleep, can any serious complications result like heart attack, etc? I have been talk stimulants to keep me awake and i want to know if this much sleep deprivation can shorten my life span and by how much? And please post a link of the dangers of sleep deprivation.

Sleep Deprivation can cause Glucose problems.

Sleep deprivation can really take a toll on the body. Taking stimulants around the clock can without sleep can cause heart problems. I have seen this in patients. The brain's frontal cortex relies on sleep to function effectively. Insufficient rest adversely affects the frontal cortex's ability to control speech, access memory, and solve problems. The effect on physical energy is also startling: otherwise healthy people quickly show symptoms of age and early diabetes as glucose metabolism falls by up to forty percent. These physical reactions disappear when the test subject is allowed to rest properly. Not to mention...Driving and other activities can become dangerous without sufficient rest. It is not worth the risk. Now, with that said...the military uses sleep deprivation in training sometimes and they also use it as a way to interogate someone. I believe more than 72 hours is very dangerous.

I liked this response. So i rewarded you with karma. But i need some more responses as well.

After two days without sleep you get pretty nutty. I used to see the guys who would stay on meth for a couple days on end. By day two they were usually pretty psycho.

It's a great way to induce a psychotic episode.

Why stay up for five days? I took something awhile back that had me up for two days straight it really starts to fuck with you. I thought i heard people in my house and shit while i was taking a shower. But I was just all pycho from being at the soundfactory to long.

No serious complications except maybe insanity and death. LOL, why are you doing this to yourself you nut.
