Are there any veterinarians here?

My dog got her yearly vaccinations last monday. For the next few days she was extremely sore there. I thought no big deal. Then it started to swell so I said I would give it a few more days. Now it's not sore to the touch but there is a knot the size of a golfball. It's like a syst or absess grew out of nowhere. It's precisely where the shots were so I knew it was b/c of them. My fiancee called the vet and they lady said it was a reaction to the medication and it would be gone in A COUPLE MONTHS!! She also said that we could bring her down so the doc could look at her but she would say the same thing. Has anyone heard of something like this? Unfortunately I don't have the names of the medication that was injected.

No but I did stay in a Holiday Inn last night so I could try and diagnose it.....sorry....

I just had to say that.

Seriously though.....My dog had about the same thing. It took awhile for it to go away but it eventually did after about three weeks.

I'm not a vet, but I play one on TV! LOL.....sorry.

I worked for a vet for 5 years. I think the term is vaccination related lipoma.

One of my cats had this. After a couple of months it went away. Basically it's just an alergic reaction to the vaccine.

If it doesn't go away or shrink after say 2 months, you may need to go back for a biopsy. Just so you know cancers caused from vaccines are extremely rare. I wouldn't worry about it!!!

its usely the rabies shot that does this, my dogs get them everytime, my vet always tells me they probely will get a knot, and it will go away in a few days.
