Actually I remember an article written in Playboy of all magazines, that discussed this quite throughly a few years ago. There are men out there that have a subconscious desire to "live through" the porn movie. Watching two lesbian chics do each other does nothing for them because subconsciously they "want to be in the action". Meaning that when a male is present in the film performing on one or more girls, they are subconsciously substituting themselves in the males role.
