April 94' PLUSA

Hannibal

I just ordered a Safety Squat bar...should be here in a week or so. And I know that in the April 94' issue of PLUSA Louie wrote an article about adding 50-100lbs to your deadlift using this bar. Haven't been able to find it on the web. I know that I can order the back issue...but I was wondering if anyone had this issue on hand.

Just a shot in the dark...but thought I would ask.

I haven't seen that article before, but

How much did you buy it for?

There was a Crepinsek Safety Squat Bar on ebay for 150, I regret that I didn't buy it:bawling: ...I could have resold it for 300!

Hmm, you got me interested in finding that article now... If I'm not mistaken in the Westside Seminar Videos Dave says that they mainly use the Cambered Bar for GM's... They did demonstrate using the safety squat bar on GM's but didn't make it sound like it was really any better than a normal bar or cambered(which I have thought about buying lately).

Considering all the free time I tend to find while I'm at work I'll see what I can find on the subject...Hmmm, Might as well post this over at EFS and see what Dave says..

they use the cambered bar because all of the westside guys are so freggin beat up. it helps their shoulders out. that's pretty much the only reason they use the thing. the ssb is much better. the other is just something to get if you have the money to blow.

ohh an the reason it adds so much to your deadlift is that it makes you drive back because it's constantly throwing your forward. and it works the ever living hell out of your back.

Hannibal, where did you order your bar from? Great info p03t1c ...Ive never used one of these bars so I really had no idea what the difference would be

Yep p03t1c, i was just watching one of the westside vids last week, and thats why they use the SSB....i might have to watch it again to fid out exactly what they say

IF i'm not mistaken the ssb also has two different motions. If you can follow this its not just the force of gravity or verticle motion that is actin on you but also a rotational motion that is trying to throw the bar and you forward. Its somwhow in the design of the bar. You would understand better if you have ever used one before. I think they are awsome.
somebody correct me if i'm wrong.
