I graduated college in December and decided to apply for my first job last month. Well, they finally called and want me to come in for an interview. What should I expect for my first interview?

Good luck collage bro, consider this you have a one up on the comp. just because you have a collage ed.:)

use the interview to see if you would want to work there - just as much as they are seeing if they'd want to work with you.
the interview is 90% how personable you are and if the people could see working with you. once you get called in, the resume and skillset is usually okay enough and they just want to see what you are like in person.

just be polite and don't swear. I've interviewed enough people that are just assholes that I don't know how they get through life. one guy swore the first 2 mins about how bad the directions he had were.
another person "corrected" me on a computer term with their own wrong perception of how it should be pronounced.

have fun! smile a lot and if you are interested in the job, let them know so - but also dont' come accross as desperate.

Make sure you dress professional, be a good listener only speak when asked to this works to your advantage, believe it or not watch your body language if you sit with your arms cross it's taken as a defensive position, if your posture is in a slouched position it can be taken as laziness, look straight at them when listening or speaking to someone, do research on the company you're interviewing with make yourself familiar with with what it is they do. The more you can tell them about there company the more you come across as a serious prospect. Sound positive yet relaxed in your tone of voice and be confident and you should be just fine. :)

Oh and one more thing: Relax and have fun with the interview. Good Luck ! :) :D

research the company, they will ask you what you know about them or depending if it is not a company learn general uptodate terms for the field you are going into. Also before hand pick out your two worst qualties, they will ask you for these. Have an answer ready for how you would benefit the company if they hired you?
Ask them questions such as why did the last person leave this job, what is a typical day like etc.

Good Luck

if they seem like they want questions and you can't think of any - ask the person about how they like it there and how they feel about the sompany and what they do, what their role is - people love to talk about themselves, and consider you a good coversationalist even if you are just listening to them talk about themselves. psychology :)

also, the person that said body language is important is very correct. if you are interested in the job - treat it like a date. smile at the person and keep your eyes wide open - for whatever reason, this is read as interest.

if you aren't interested in the job, then pull your pants down and ask them if they think the rash is spreading or not

If you have a long tounge and your interviewer is a women, well then offer to go down on her! That'll score you points right off the bat. If it's a guy, bring KY with you.

Thanks for the suggestions. The job is actually at the school I graduated from. It starts out at 29.5K a year with good benefits. I think that's a pretty good deal for a first job with a salary and for the size of this town. IMO, I've got a good chance of getting the job.
