Im looking to drop some water weight on this cutting diet ,and I want to see how I react to it for future purposes.

first Q,I searched on the web for this,is this lasix the diruetic most bb's use?

and is a 40mg a day dose taken in the morning a good idea or should I take half a tab for the purposes I want?

and would 1-1.5gal of water be enough or should I limit it more

any other relevant info would be great

thanks guys

Lasix is a farely strong diuretic; there are some natural ones that will do the job nicely. I have lasiz and also demadex.

I'm not sure Lasix is something you want to mess with unless you are dehydrating for a show or professional photo shoot. I can see doing a "test run" with it during show prep, but not running it on a daily basis just to keep water off.

To keep water weight off, drink as much water as you can (1-2 ga is a good start), limit sodium, keep carbs fibrous not starchy, many veggies are natural diuretics, caffeine and also try dandelion root.

it was given to my mom at a 40mg a day dose to take long term so I do feel a low dose like that wont hurt, she also doesnt drink any water or take any supps and she has been fine, she may be one of those people who is ok with that though,im not sure,im also curious to how it effects me in the future since i want to compete eventually, and since its free it will be my drug of choice

but thanks for the help guys

I was in a hurry when I answered last time. Lasix is too strong for casual daily use. I would use dandelion root instead. 1.5 gallons is definitely too low for lasix; you'll pee a ton on it so you'd want to shoot for double that amt. I only have it because my feet swell up sometimes and my sister, who's a doctor, gave me some she had prescribed for herself. I take half a tab 1-2 times a week.
Lasix is really only used by BB'ers who are behind in preparation. Otherwise it's considered too strong.

Because normal people aren't already limiting water intake like a contest BB'er.

im really confused as to why my mother was prescribed it for daily use then

why don't you ask her? my guess is she has high blood pressure.

I think daisy_girl and dial_tone gave some solid advice... cardio will help sweat some of it off, which you might want to consider being on a cutting diet anyway :p

oak, i happen to be a nurse and i give people lasix every day. 40 mg of lasix is a lot it is given to people with severe edema. your mother may have c.h. f. or kidney problems, but while it would certanly lower her blood pressure if she took it ,it is not used on a regular basis for lowering b.p. my suggestion is to stay away from it .you also should read a little more about it before you take anything.

she has a tyroid problem and was holding tons of water and the doctor wanted her to lose it,but she doesnt drink any water which would lead me to believe its very dangerous, and since I wouldnt be taking it for a show atm and would have good water intake I would think 20 or 40 at most would help, may even taken eod

I do agree the advice was good im just curious to see how much water im holding and how I react to the drug
