Anything I can do???

You could just walk away from it and consider the $120 a small price to pay for her to be out of your hair. I realize that $120 when you're in college is like a free trip to the Ft. Knox vault, but small claims court and changing locks and verbal sparring and all that other crap just prolongs the pissing contest ... and no one has ever really won a pissing contest (and even if someone has there was no satisfaction). I say let it go. You prolly have more important things to deal with ... like studying and finals.

YOu know...I was going to do that...I really was. But then...I woke up and realized how I just don't have 120 bucks to throw away on bills that aren't even mine. I know that I would have to pay court costs and what not...but ...well....shoot.

Can't I at least tell her that I have spoken to my lawyer and if she doesn't pay then I am taking her to court (to maybe scare her a bit)???

I really really want her out of my hair, like you said.

I wouldn't tell her anything. Send her a certified letter. In the letter make a statement to the effect that if she does not remit payment within 10 business day of reciept you will commence with legal action.

You may have better luck "scaring" her that way.

As a thought, since she no longer resides at your residence you could send it to her parents address. They will probably open it for her and help put the pressure on.

The fake, legal-sounding letter with empty threats is a very common tactic. I think it's called boilerplate. Companies use it all the time. Try it, it's pretty much free (ok 20 minutes writing and printing out a letter plus 35 cents). It definitely won't hurt to get her rents involved in this either.

Last I heard...your lawyer actually was drawing up a letter to be mailed. Way to go girl. If you go to small claims court...she will have to pay for everything:).

Did this chick use the the services you're trying to collect? In other words, are you trying to collect of phone/cable/water/electricity/etc that she didn't use? If this is the case, you can threaten all you want, but I wouldn't expect to be paid. She didn't use them ... why should she? If she did use them, the certified letter to her and her parents could be a useful tactic. If that doesn't work, I say you drop it.

She used them all for about 5 minutes when she came to the house...but I really dont' think that is the point.

When you sign an apt. lease does that not say that you basically agree to pay a 1/3 of the bills, also? This is just ridiculous.

OH, I was going to call her mother, but can't find the number and it's unlisted...I don't know what to do.
