Okay...here's the situation.

I approached my roommate today in class because I needed to tell her what her portion of the bills for this month were. (short history...we NEVER talk...she wanted to break the lease, but agreed to stay until May...she does not even LIVE with me...)

She proceeded to tell me that because she did NOT have the money...she wasn't going to pay for anymore bills because she didn't "live" there. The bills are in MY name...therefore...she is just flat out screwing me over. I have found another roommate to take her place, but not until the end of April...so...she is not going to pay 120 bucks worth of bills for the two months she has left.

She said, "Well...my name is on the lease, so I will pay the rent, but because the bills are in YOUR name...I DON'T have to pay them." Somebody please tell me there is something I can do.

I was so mad at her...as she turned around to walk off I started following her because I really felt like punching the crap off out of her. One of my friends stopped me...I WAS FURIOUS!!!!!!!!!

She has to be the most cold-hearted person I have ever met?? I mean, really...what kind of person would just flat out screw you over like that?

I AM SO MAD RIGHT NOW. I'll say one thing...she sure better be glad my friend stopped me because I would have laid her ass out right there in front of everyone for sure.

Does she have any of her stuff there still? You could hold onto it and not let her have it until she pays her half, or you could always sell it and use it pay her half.

Sorry, but that's all tired, lunch induced self can come up with right now.
 
Actually as far as getting money out of her in the situation you described no you can't really do anything.

BUT, you take any or all of her belongings that are left in the apertment and either
1.piss on them
2.burn them
3.trash them

or you could just kick her ass, and then piss on her
 
This one's simple. She's on the lease, you're on the bills. So each month pay her your share of the rent minus her share of the utilities. She has to make up the difference.

Have a huge man in a ski mask, who looks just like B Fold with a ski mask on mug her for $150, The B Fold looking dude has to get gas money to drive home right... Or you could wait untill she gets drunk throw her in the back of a friends car and put the bitch in chains and throw her in the river. this might not pay the bills but you will feel better.
 
This is why roommates should sign contracts just like you would for any other business aggreement. But you can take her to small claims court and argue your case stating that you had an oral agreement. I'm guessing both your names are on the lease so Joncrane's suggest probably won't work because you'd just be screwing yourself.

I'm confusing. Is she still leaving there? Either way. the fact she signed a lease showed her intent to live there and be good enough proof in court.
