Anyone work executive protection here?

I got a call from a company ive sent a resume to recently and after going over it I found out it was a PI job but infact a executive protection position.

Im just wondering what this kind of work is like,what they are looking for in the interview and anything else that will be helpful for me to know.

Where did you apply? I am looking at possible doing this kind of thing since I moved here as I figured there would be market for that in this city.

Background checks will probably be key at first. If you have anything to help aid this it will be a leg up.

basically my experience is alot of door work and a little bit of army reserves,but they seem interested since they called back so quickly in regards to my resume.

overall I was just wondering the kind of life and qualities they seek.

I know pay wont be great,11$ a hr to start but my plan would be get the connections and experience then move up to a better company with larger client base or start my own

I'm about 24 months out from starting up my own. If you get into and like it stay in touch, I work with some great people.


If you are married it can be rough on the family life. Sometime the schedule really sux, but like I said the pay can go up fast in the right situation. I have some friend making over 25 a month.

sounds good man,ive actually been trying to get into this work for a year or so now,but at 21 it was hard,however this company seems like a entry level company into this world so Ill pay my dues and move up as fast as I can.

the best part is im single and I have a passion for this type of work so hopefully it will workout great

My boss. (owner of the company) recently was a bodyguard for Goldie Hawn when she was here in Dallas. The license is a PPO. personal protection officer. I asked him to pay for the training so I could get it.

I wont mind the suit thing,id actually prefer it,I want to stay in this industry and go far as it relates to what I took in school.

so far I have the interview tue morning,and for now Ill be working labour disputes all around ontario for 2-3 weeks at a time 12-13 hr days ,Im not sure if they cover expenses or not,but that will be discussed tue morning,I would assume they do,if not I wouldnt be able to afford it I know that. but we will see how it goes

my training partner does it.
for executives and celebrities. he makes a good amount of money but has some pretty high level security access i think, or whatever it is. I know he's got permits for some pretty cool weapons, knows quite a lot of martial arts, and drives a hot car.

Those jobs suck big time. Minimum wage is fixed by decree and it's not that good. Few companies will pay you more than the minimum. Armed guards make more (Securicor, Garda, Brinks). Executive protection suck in canada cause you can't pack heat so in other words, it's a rent-a-cop type job.

You said labor disputes ? Oh Jesus, now that sucks. have ever had an angry unionized crowd in front of you ? Now that's hardcore dude....

Depends .....

Sometimes it is just driving and being a "presence". That is fun.

Sometimes it is watching over him or her and the family. Don't do this alone. Kids wander off.

If the executive's company is in the news, going under, being picketed by hippies or greens, it can be a slug fest. Some fucker is gunna want to get in his or her face and you block it.

Make it clear whether they want you are armed or not.

Wear a vest under your suit coat. Ask if he/she wants one too.

Do not take this work outside US unless you are willing to be shot at and shoot back. This includes PR and Mex. Canada is pretty cool.

it will be work in canada for now,if I got my own business going hell Ill go where the money is Im not to worried.

manny,I agree most places suck but so far I know for certain wages are 11$hr and ill be making about 1000$ a week, the only details im not sure of are if accomidations are paid for.as for the crowds,I expect it to be some sticky situations but im ready for what could happen. I have the main focus in my mind and am willing to start low to gain experience and contacts to move up and venture out on my own
