i've read super squats book and it seems like i really good program. It calls for 2-3 workouts a week depending on what u can handle. I think im gonna try it on tue and thur and do events on sunday and see how it works.

Anyone have any experience with this program?

thanks for the advice but i thought the book was pretty good. did you try it and not like it or something? i'd like to hear your thoughts on this.

Hmm, burn a training book, GREAT IDEA! NOT.

This book is primarily targeted at hardgainers (I hate that word) and espouses a very low volume of work and a very intense set of 20 rep squats 2-3x a week.

It's great advice for a real skinny hardgainer. If you're fairly average or have decent genetics then stear clear of it and stick with a more balanced program.

it is 20rep squats 2-3x week but theres alot more than just squats in those workouts. they also show an abbreviated routine in the book for people that dont gain weight as easly.

I used to do 3 sets of 20 once a week. I started off with 225 and added 10 lbs till I would complete the 20 for three sets. I got to 315 for 3 sets before I asked myself why am I kiling myself. We're talking vomit, passing out the whole deal.

Disregard previous advice. It's always good to try new things. This just may be the thing for you.

i used to do them when i was bodybuilding. it was a nice change up. i think i only did 2 sets of 20 tho and only did something like that 2x a month. regular leg days other days

I picked up the concept of super squats from a training book I've got and this shit hurts. It works, but by god does it hurt. Not really worth it in my opinion unless you're stuck for like 3 or 4 months without any gains. :artist:

what? you one of those high volume pumping dildos?

thats a very good book for the non-drugged average guy, whos interested in hard work and true gains. So, you probably think dinosaur training is rubbish too, or say The strongest shall survive is shitte? Actually, you probably are one of those chrome and fern land pumpers Brooks Kubiks hates so much.

king, thats an awesome book, try the programs, but it will only deliver if you put 100% effort, nothing less.

It'll be a lot more effective than traditional volume split routines, because you're working each muscle group 3 times a week.

That said, if you want to do the same thing without murdering your CNS, try HST.

make sure to supplement some sort of light hamstring movement in there...you have to be aware of strength imbalances, if you only do squats and depending on your stance you may(i did this) overdo your quads....higher quad to hamstring ratio....more likely you are susceptible to knee injuries... something to keep in mind...

i get watcha sayin but it does include sldl's although not one of my favs but it does include somethin for hams.

it's a great book, I've used the routine myself.

Started with a 135lbs x 20 and worked up to 225 x 20.

The only thing wrong with the book is that the program was designed for hargainers but then recommends brutal squatting 3 times a week.

That will bury any natural trainer.

Once a week is more than enough.

I used something similar - when I could no longer add 5-10 per week and maintain the 20 reps...I continued to add 10 pounds per week and dropped the reps back to the 6-8 range.

Did that once...netted 1.5 on each thigh
