Anyone use mIRC?

Because, i have no frigging idea how to get music from people. I've had people tell me how to, but then I go to try it, and something messes up or something. It seems I am an idiot.

tiscali.uk.eu.dal.net is the first line when I connected. Is that my server ... ?

General options, connect, use the dropdown menu and scroll down through the servers...undernet is is almost at the end...I'm on Undernet: US, TX, Dallas

BigBazooka, I switched over to Dalnet for a while there...sorry I missed ya!

Jestin, you can hit the icon "list channels" and everything will come up...you can choose how many people that need to be in a channel for those channels to show up on your list. After you get the list, then you can search within that list for keywords (ie. music, sex, mp3). I started a list earlier that had 5 to 50 people in each channel and I got over 10,000 different channels on Undernet.

mIRC is an ancient program that was originally made for file transferring, but most of the channels now there are for chatting. It's global, so half of the channels aren't even in English. There are different groups within the system...Dalnet, Efnet, Undernet, etc. and within those there are different servers that you connect through. If Joe is using Undernet and Sam is on Dalnet, you won't find eachother. You can privately message people, you can list the names of people in different channels, you can be in multiple channels at the same time, you can have a buddy list, you can see what other channels a person is on, etc. It's not the easiest program to use, but once you figure it out it can be enjoyable.

my freshmen year in high school, i was an admin/ircop on dalnet and ircop on efnet as well. it was kinda lame, but i networked and met a lot of cool people.

if you people are looking for warez/music fuck all those other servers, use criten.

I was an op on a registered channel for a few years. I hooked up with a GREAT group of people there and wound up meeting many of them in person. We had a few meet-ups in different states and always had a blast! Although we don't use the program regularly anymore, we still keep in touch and one of the guys from the group came over here about a month ago, and I'll be in Boston at another friend's annual Mardi Gras party for the third year in a row. Although mIRC is a pain to use, I stuck with it because of this particular group of people.

Is #EnemaSex one of the lesser known channels?

True story...I was showing my mother-in-law how to use mIRC a few years ago. We listed the channels and she picked #EnemaSex as the one to go into. It was a riot! My in-laws are the best!
