Not as rich set of features (Photoshop is #1) but enough for 95% of the regular stuff you need to do

i donwloaded it and unrar'd it into a directory but cant seem to find the program file to run it?

I only use it on Linux. I didn't know there was a win32 version. I do my photo editing with photoshop. Being a semi-pro photographer makes it worth the money.

I think it's a type of zip, looking into it now. Tar.gz file

tar is just a bunch of files put together; .gz means its compressed so foobar.tar is an uncompressed zip and foobar.tar.gz is a compressed zip.

for me i extracted the files by unrarring them

either way i have a folder with all the files in it but no .exe file to run the software

As for Photoshop vs. Paint Shop Pro.... PSP has an easier learning curve. I only use Photoshop when I come across something that PSP can't easily do.

Yeah, I've called lots of people gimps in the past, I thought that was a funny acronym
